Allen Iverson talking to China team

PHILADELPHIA -- Unwanted by the NBA, Allen Iverson is considering playing in China.

Gary Moore, Iverson's personal manager, said Iverson has not been contacted by any NBA team with training camps set to open in less than two weeks. Moore said there is "legitimate interest" between Iverson and a team in China to work out a deal. Moore did not know the team's name and was vague on details.

"We're very astonished, to say the least, that not one team has contacted us with any interest," Moore said. "I just don't understand it."

Because his skills aren't what they used to be, and there's no reason to have a prima donna on your team who can't score or distribute the ball anymore.

I've asked this before and I still haven't heard an answer that I think really covers it. I mean, we all know how he is. There's no denying that he holds the ball too much, takes too many bad shots and pouts when he doesn't get his way about pretty much everything. But it's got to be some internal stuff that's even worse than that. The stuff that only gets spread between players and coaches behind the scenes. Because with the right attitude he could definitely help a team that was close to winning it all, or a young team who needed an experienced scoring guard. MANY other players with attitude problems and fewer skills than AI have remained employed by the NBA. The fact that nobody is willing to try again with AI, not ONE team, tells me that the "inside" word on him is really, REALLY bad.

He won't. That's why he's probably texting Stephon Marbury now to ask where the best places to eat are.

I think the current NBA landscape is bad for AI. You have only a handful of teams that are truly trying to contend. LA, Boston, Miami, Orlando, Dallas and that's about it. None of those teams have a roster spot to risk on a proven, talented, but ran down veteran like Iverson because he has shown a tendancy to be disruptive when asked to take a backseat as a bench player. A lower level team may have taken a chance on him if it weren't for the debacle that ensued in Memphis last year with Iverson. If he had shown last year that he'd be willing to take a back-up role and remain professional, he'd be in the league. As with most falls from grace, the man did himself in for the most part.
