it's funny though, even late at night when I am completely sober and can't sleep for example, strange thoughts run through my mind, sometimes with a frightening intensity - I'll get all worked up about something, all worried, and then the next day it seem completely unimportant. Now imagine being drunk as well, recipe for disaster!!!!
I'm like that too but oddly enough when I am drunk I'm not that way at all. I just get really confident, a little wild and eager to partake in some hardcore filth.
it's never happened to me that I've been anything but "fun" and I think I can dance really well and I think I am really sexy
I don't get emotionally intense at all, or that I know of just laugh a lot |

I have a friend who is SUCH A PAIN when she is drunk (and she ALWAYS gets really drunk) she makes horrible faces in every photo and tries to kiss everyone else's husband, while her own gets madder and madder [Edited 9/10/10 22:07pm] |

strange that alcohol makes placid sensible women turn into sexual preverts ?...wonder what that all means? |

But yes, I do believe that being intoxicated brings out thoughts that are otherwise neatly tucked away.
True, it often allows genuine feelings to shine through and it certainly seems to be the case in the situations described above. There are some people who just get warped when they get drunk though, for example the mean drunks who start cussing random people out even though they don't have anything against them. It must be hard for those people to explain away their behaviour the next day because I think most people assume that booze always brings out the truth.
Interesting.
I wonder if their suppressed anger is what comes out when they get drunk?
People who don't know how to handle their problems except cope with them using alcohol, then when they're drunk, they can't supress them anymore.
That may explain why these seemingly timid and mild men start becoming abusive only when they're drunk.

Well if it's suppressed anger that comes out, then in a way you could call it "truth" since it was there all along but hidden. That may well be the case for a lot of mean drunks but I also think there are those whose brains get chemically affected by the alcohol and start spewing vile stuff that they hadn't been harbouring in the first place. The mean drunks are just one example though. Another one is the touchy-feely drunks who start to fondle and cuddle everyone and everything, even ones that they've never shown that kind of interest in before. There again I think it's sometimes a matter of suppressed/hidden "truths" that get brought out by the alcohol but other times it's just a purely alcohol-induced phenomenon, and it's often hard for others to tell the difference.

True too,
my uncle who is normally in his own world seems to come alive and is the life of the party when he's drunk.
Can't figure it out.
Alcohol also impairs judgement... so in the case of one who acts out of character, their judgement becomes warped and they might think it's okay.

I've only been that drunk once, and I really could not remember what happened, what I said, etc. Only once someone mentioned whose residence we had visited did I remember we had even been there, and even that was hazy. But obviously I hadn't passed out either - we walked. |

#1: A friend of mine came to a party last week with his husband..got blackout drunk and started crying about how much he been trying to be a good husband and that he can't take it anymore.
#2: A straight friend of ours got really gay; and forced my head down to ...do things to him while my partner and his friend walked out of the car...he proceeded to say, "how much would you pay me to smd..." as he revealed himelf...thus my partner and his friend walked in the car and saw what he was doing and he stopped
#1 - a reveal, I'm so glad I was never a "crying drunk"
#2 - that just sounds like some dumb drunk humor. I'd probably say the same to JustErin. |

So he was revealing himself? I do really think that when people are drunk thing that they ahve been hiding comes out...but I dont know about the whole "blackout thing". I never had a blackout; but I have always been 100% honest about myself so...I never HAVE to reveal anything. If I hit on a straight guy or a girl...Im HITTIN on you.

Yes you're more likely to say what you really want to say while drunk, but you can also feel things you dont really feel either. I know I've told my true feelings to people while being drunk before, but I've also tolerated things I absoutely cannot while sober. So really theres no way of knowing the truth in those situations you talked about.
yeah, I agree. Alcohol can make you more honest in small amounts, but I believe it actually changes you in larger amounts |
