Survivor: Nicaragua premieres Sep 15. ABC has not officially announced V's second season.

V will be on in January probably. They do it in "pods", so it's just a couple/3 months, like an "event", then put it on haitus for a while, then bring it back six months later. It has been renewed for a 2nd season. This is the Fall 2010 schedule, not Winter 2011. Long gone are the says of Sept-May series runs and summer reruns.

Survivor is Sept 15. It always follows the end of Big Brother.

Aside from The Event, I'm not really anxious to see any of the new shows. I remember when I was a child, the new fall tv shows, especially cartoons, was the highlight of my life! smile

Same here, although I'll add HBO's Boardwalk Empire to the list. And The Event looks worth checking out; I'm not necessarily chomping at the bit to see it. Other than that, a couple of the sitcoms might be okay--Mike & Molly, Better With You and Outsourced could be okay if they play their cards right. But I absolutely refuse to watch Shit My Dad says just on principle.

Not looking like a promising season at all (other than the returning shows that I already like a lot).

I'm looking forward to new:

Family Guy

American Dad

The Cleveland Show

Two & A Half Men

How I Met Your Mother

Glee

The Big Bang Theory

The Simpsons

/\ I watch all of these shows religiously, lol.

And I'm interested in checking out "Shit My Dad Says" since I followed the original Twitter account from the beginning, before it even blew up.

Out of all those - I think:

"Family Guy" is on the downslope at this point.

"The Simpsons" has been getting progressively worse for about 4 seasons now and I don't see that trend changing.

"The Cleveland Show" got better with each subsequent episode in Season 1 and so I expect great things from Season 2.

"Two & A Half Men" has been on the downslope for at least 2 seasons now, and again I don't really see that changing.

"American Dad" has been consistently hilarious for a few seasons. I don't see it getting any better, but I don't see it getting worse, either.

"How I Met Your Mother" got better and better from the beginning through Season 4, then took a hit in Season 5, which was lacking. However - having read a few recent interviews with the creators/writers, I'm confident that they know exactly where they went wrong with Season 5 and won't be making the same mistakes in Season 6. I expect that the new Season will be the best season yet.

"The Big Bang Theory" is fucking awesome, each season has been substantially better than the last, and I think Season 4 will be the same. The point where they left off in the Season 3 finale (Howard and Raj setting up Sheldon with a woman on a dating site that was his exact match) had me crying with laughter. It's the perfect starting point for Season 4. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that Penny and Leonard will get back together at some point. That relationship has so much potential. Also - we need more of Leonard's mom. I understand Christine Baranski was nominated for an Emmy for that performance and she should have won. Absolutely hilarious.

and finally, "Glee" - again, consistently more and more brilliant as the season progressed, and I'm expecting the same with Season 2, and especially looking forward to the Britney episode.

It's a tough call, but if I were to analyse it, I'd say that the reasons that "Family Guy" and "Two & A Half Men" are on the downslope are because the creators of each are prioritizing their other shows - Seth MacFarlane is focusing on "American Dad" and "The Cleveland Show", and Chuck Lorre is focusing on "The Big Bang Theory".

As for "The Simpsons", it's possible that either Matt Groening is more focused on "Futurama" (I don't watch every episode, but the few episodes I have seen from the last season have been fantastic), or perhaps, now that "The Simpsons" has been on for over 20 years, it's just not cutting edge material any more, especially when compared to what Seth MacFarlane is doing.

Man.... I'm just not going to get anything done for the rest of the year.... lol

Love CSI (only LV) but I can't agree with you about Dexter being crap. One of the best shows on television. nod Since I didn't know it was coming back so soon I'm pretty damn excited.

Also, they may be crap - although I don't think so lol - but I'm pretty excited for Survivor and Amazing Race, too. Never missed Survivor (literally - like two episodes since it started), but I JUST started watching AR last season (I fought it because I didn't want to enjoy anything else as much as Survivor). Also, I'm a Gordon Ramsey whore, so I'm glad Hell's Kitchen is back already, too.

Otherwise, bring on the NBA season! Aaaayeah! The shows I mentioned above are the only things I pay attention to during basketball season. And I actually record all those. Gotta admit I love Spartacus, too - but there's no word on when it's coming back yet.

NBC axed Heroes this past May due to an extreme drop in ratings.

I consider it a mercy killing. I loved the characters, but they had really written themselves into a corner. They created 3 virtually omnipotent characters and then had to keep manufacturing ways to work around their powers.

Excited for Boardwalk Empire & the Walking Dead other than that....blah. I'm not even all that excited for America's Next Top Model the way I used to be. Wish I could get into Dexter too. I have seasons 1 & 2 on my instant Netflix, but I haven't even started it yet. I hate being behind on shows. sigh

It's great that "Community" and "Modern Family" got a second season, as I thought those were the best new shows from last winter. I always watch "How I Met Your Mother" so I'm looking forward to that too, but I wonder how long they can stretch this thing. They've still got 5 more seasons (including this one) to match "Friends", but that show lasted a bit too long IMO.

But the show I'm most looking forward to getting a second season is probably "Eastbound & Down" ('Kenny Fuckin' Powers' biggrin ). I LOVED the first season and I hope the show doesn't jump the shark in the second season.

As for the new shows, the only one I'd heard about previously is "Shit My Dad Says".

But I saw some previews from it on Youtube and it looked like a stale laugh-track sitcom cliché. I hope the pilot episode will prove me wrong though.

And what's up with having a show called "Shit My Dad Says" on a TV network where you can't even say the word SHIT? It's so fucking stupid. disbelief

I'd say they should have that kind of show, a show that's basically based on a guy that says inappropriate but funny stuff, either late at night (can they say "shit" on CBS after 9 PM or 10 PM???) or on some other channel that doesn't have this stupid censorship in place.

Question for the panel. What's the over/under on how many weeks Detroit 1-8-7 makes it?

Are you flipping kidding me? ANOTHER cop show? How do these things keep getting green lit?

I'll set the over/under line at 6.5 weeks and take the under.......

They needed interesting external enemies. It became a damn family soap opera and I lost all interest.
