Nope. I have a very small part in this - even though I'm actually playing two parts. They're fun - and pivotal, in a way. But there's no question I'm spending most of my time in the dressing room this time.

It's been really hard watching someone else play a part I wanted. But I've tried to keep my mind on the big picture, which is that I'm auditioning for another show for this same company in less than three weeks. I felt like I needed to get myself in front of them again - because the next project is much bigger.

Thanks, everyone. We open tonight. It'll be so nice to have the death march commonly known as tech over and done with. The run, itself, is always a cakewalk in comparison. lol

With two parts maybe you can show more of your range, which might impress the company.

Good luck!

Oh, they know my range - I've worked with them before (this is the fourth show). It's just been awhile.

Theatre companies go in cycles. This one used to be run by a husband-and-wife team who had their fingers in everything - producing, directing, designing. It was nice because you always knew the work would get done, but they treated the company like their own little sandbox. If they didn't like you, you could forget about working for them. After doing three shows in two seasons, I suddenly found myself on the outside looking in, for reasons that were never explained.

They eventually got booted (or left on their own, depending on who you ask) after a disastrous production of Noises Off, at which point younger people took over the running of the company after a brief hiatus. The play selection for the first couple of years didn't exactly favor middle-aged women, so I took roles with other companies. This was really my first chance to get back in - which is why I jumped at it.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Is that you? You're certainly still very attractive, but you must have been outrageously luminous in your 20s. Is that where the vibe of hard-won cynicism comes from? razz

It had a jokey wee sting in the tail, aye, but since when were the words 'you're very attractive' not a compliment? Sorry if you took it the wrong way, Christ.

Well, you are still very attractive. You obviously think I was being facetious due to the exaggerated nature of my org persona. I'm not. Don't you think you were more attractive in your 20s? I certainly thing I was. I wouldn't mind anyone saying it either. It's just the truth.

Hey, I did not mean it as an insult. I like genesia. Breaking balls is part of my nature, my culture. I hardly think what I said was offensive.

Nothing personal, but if that's truly the case then you don't know women very well. lol It's been entertaining, though, so please continue. nod
