Albinos being murdered in Tanzania

http://channel.nationalge...0/Overview

Oh my gosh this is the first that I'm hearing about such a thing. In Tanzania dozens of albino people (particularly children) have been murdered for their body parts because some local witch doctors feel that their bones are essential for various potions. I felt very sad when I read about this. Kinda like the rapes of children by some HIV positive men (they believed it was a cure for HIV). Since the Albinos in African are African this is not a matter of race so I posted it in the General Discussion section.

Although this should not even need to be said, please understand that just because these things happen in a particular part of the continent of Africa does not mean that it is rampant. African Albino soccer players are now attempting to serve as educators to their own communities about this sick practice. Some of them survived by fleeing thier country. How does the globe mass educate various cultures against partaking in such practices as albino murders, female circumcism etc wihout imposing our culture onto theres.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Albinos have not been treated humanely throughout many cultures and societies. Whenever someone is born looking drastically different from the rest of the population (in non-westernized nations) it seems they are either exhaulted as something sent by a god power or scorned, murdered and mistreated as something sent by a demonic power - supersticious reactions to the minority group. Even today, as cultures are so advanced and what not, we still mistreat people with physical deformities or unique physical traits. Think of how hard little people and the physically disabled have it even today, struggling for employment opportunities and accessibility/accommodation, being easy targets for criminals. It's pathetic. The mistreatment of albinos is beyond comprehension though. I don't know how you could even kill an albino baby.

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

yes, gorgeous everything nod - the hair is particularly awesome

I know this is a horrible thing to say, but why can't United Colors of Bennetton (if they are still around) swoop in and rescue them all, these kids are perfect for their ad campaigns

confused Give them a life where they will be SPECIAL in a good way.
