How Do You Store Your Vinyl?

A few years ago, I was straightening up my vinyl shelves, and realized, some of the records were suffering (as all have) the white ring around the jacket. All my records are in plastic slip covers, but that wasn't enough.

I decided to take the records and sleeves out of the jacket. I put the main jacket, then the record, then the sleeve into the plastic slip cover, in that order (so the vinyl was sandwiched on either side by the jacket and/or sleeve.

The purpose was to limit the amount of circular rings and indentions on the sleeve and/or the jacket, especially with stuff that didn't have it to begin with (opposed to buying older records that already had suffered some wear and tear).

Is there any special way you store your vinyl?

Vinyl record vertically stored in special protective sleeve. All stored in the album with a plastic protective cover. Stored in cases. Not cramped-that is the key to not getting rings. Just enough to keep each other standing up.

99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I don't have that many records so I just keep them in a box next 2 the turntable.

I have a few plastic protectors that I keep around my prized possesions but thats about it.

I would have a lot more in my inventory if there were any good shops around my way, the owner of the local place passed away about 2 years ago and there is nothing else in town. (RIPLeeMeine)

Most are stored vertically on a shelf; however, some are in horizonal piles stored in the basement. Hell, I even have cassette tapes somewhere and 45's in a wicker basket.

All of my cassettes are stored in drawers, and my 8-tracks are shelved.

It's a bit like how I keep books on cognitive psychology and psychoanalysis on different sides of the shelf.

I'm bad at storing vinyl. They just lie around here and there in small heaps.

Not separate from each other...

There were too many albums to all fit in one unit, so I put them in a different cabinet with the 78s. biggrin

I have a narrow 6 foot bookcase with adjustable shelves which are so full of albums that they are tight. I have the 12 Inches in a big box on the floor and I have the 45s stacked in multiple stacks in the cabinet underneath my entertainment center.

Andy is a four letter word.

I don't have much vinyl, but what I do have is in protective plastic sleeves, then stored vertically in cardboard vinyl storage boxes.
