Another dead wrester - RIP Lance Cade

Lance McNaught, a wrestler for World Wrestling Entertainment, died at age 29 on Friday from what is believed to be heart failure.

McNaught, nicknamed Lance Cade and Garrison Cade during different tenures, signed with the WWE in 2000 and was released from his contract in 2008.

McNaught was a three-time World Tag Team Champion over five years with WWE and was scheduled to headline a pro wrestling show at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan on Aug. 29.

He has two daughters and a stepson.

Just one more young man to have succumbed to a premature death thanks to the use of performance enhancing drugs.

"...professional wrestlers who worked for the WWE have been dropping dead at a terrifying rate... In 2007, WWE star Chris Benoit killed his wife and son before committing suicide. Benoit was 40. (Steroids were found in his house.) Eddie Guerrero, another former WWE champ, was found dead in a hotel room. The cause of death was heart failure. He was 38. Bam Bam Bigelow, Mike Awesome, Crash Holly, Umaga, Yokozuna, Brian Pillman, Davey Boy Smith, Rick Rude, Big Boss Man, Earthquake, Curt Hennig, Hercules, Big John Studd, Road Warrior Hawk, Chris Kanyon, Andrew "Test" Martin--all of these former WWE stars have died in recent years. None was older than 46. This is a partial list.

Keith Pinckard, a medical examiner who tracks pro wrestling deaths, has calculated that wrestlers have a death rate 7 times higher than the general population and are 12 times more likely to die from heart disease than other Americans in the same age groups."

It's not just the PED's that's killing them. If that were the case we'd see a lot more death in bodybuilding. No wrestlers have unhealthy life styles which includes PED's, but also painkillers, recreational drugs, alcohol and an unhealthy diet. THAT combo is what's killing those fuckers.

I was a hardcore wrestling fan from around 1987 to around the mid 90's. Only a handful of my favorite wrestlers from that time are even still living. Now, wrestlers that I never even heard of, that weren't even around back in the 80's, are now dying.

The thing about those steroids; they make you look amazing for a limited time, if you don't mind suffering an early death. Taking steroids is like making a deal with the Devil. disbelief

In any event, Rest Peacefully Lance Cade: 29 is way too young to die.

What they put their bodies through IN the ring is enough to kill many men. I know wrestling is "fake", but there's no way to fake being thrown 10 feet through the air and landing on a table, floor or chair.

These guys are supreme athletes but even with the fake stuff, they take a brutal, brutal pounding three or four times a week. And with no pads whatsoever.

That's not what's killing them. Not directly. That's what gets them on those painkillers because they need to perform and can't get any time off. And because they're on the road 200 days a year, most of them have miserable relationships which in a lot fo cases leads to drug and alcohol abuse.

Supreme athletes do not look like that. lol

One of my favorites, Shawn Michaels, who recently retired in April, during his prime was doped up on painkillers, alcohol, and some times coke. There are stories of he and another wrestler named Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) literally passing out at restaurants and in hotel lobbies around 1994-1996

There's a match from 1997 where Shawn is wrestling and although you never would've guessed he was taking drugs before many of his other matches, but THIS ONE, it was totally obvious neutral

Steriods aren't only to blame, its a combination of riods and recreational drugs..... if you watch any of the wrestling deco's your find alot of these cats have depression or are even addicted to drug etc...

By the way, there has never been a death related case linked to only to steriods.

I don't think anyone is saying that steroids is exclusively to blame for the early deaths of these wrestlers; I think that it's just one element that combined with other drugs, injuries, lifestyle, etc., that is causing these wrestlers to drop like flies. Eddie Guerrero admitted prior to his death to taking cocaine and methylamphetamines along with steorids, HGH, and painkillers because of the hectic schedule most of these wrestlers keep. The injuries they suffer in the ring are quite real, but unlike baseball, football, basketball, etc., where players have unions and are allowed time to recouperate on injured reserve, the WWE and TNA have non-stop schedules where matches occur two and sometimes three times a week. In addition, the wrestlers themselves are hired as independent contractors, so they are responsible for their own well-being.

Even people out of the wrestling biz are dealing with their own demons. The Von Ehrich family is a classic tragedy, while Joanie Laurer (f.k.a. Chyna) publicly dealt with alcohol abuse and addiction to painkillers.

You can't mention "wrestling tragedy" without including the most horrific tragedy in recent memory;

Over a three-day period ending on June 24, 2007, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) professional wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife, Nancy Benoit, strangled his seven-year-old son, Daniel, and subsequently hanged himself. Autopsy results showed that Benoit first murdered his wife, Nancy. She was bound at the feet and wrists and died of asphyxiation sometime on Friday, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told a news conference. She was wrapped in a towel and some blood was found under her head but Ballard said there were no other signs of a struggle. The couple's son, who also died of asphyxia, was apparently killed as he lay in bed on Saturday morning, hours before Benoit hanged himself. Benoit left no suicide note but placed bibles alongside the bodies of his wife and son, as well as a bible on his weight lifting machine. Since Benoit's suicide, numerous explanations for his actions have been proposed, including concussions, steroid abuse, and a failing marriage with his wife. The murder led to numerous media accounts, and federal investigation into steroid abuse in professional wrestling.

Sad to hear. I didn't even know Mike Awesome, Test, and Umaga died.

Umaga just died this past December. I thought the WWE had worked the

past several years to avoid these tragedies. I know several years ago

Vince McMahon denied allegations that the WWE encouraged their wrestlers

to take steroids.

Once again everyone's talking about steroids when there are other sports in which they use way more steroids, but crazy shit like this doesn't happen nearly as often. Wrestlers are fucked up individuals with a fucked up life style. That's what's killing them.

As far as the WWE encouraging people to take steroids, they probably never did, but what do you think guys are going to do when they notice that a certain look will get them to the top of the company faster? So WWE doesn't have to encourage them to take roids, same as in any other sports sponsors don't encourage athletes to take anything but athlete just know what they need to do. This is what people want to see. It sells like a muthafukka.

Yeah. The weird thing about it is all 3 of those guys weren't in WWE anymore, they had all gotten released. Test had just left TNA when he passed. Ever since Eddy and Chris died, the E has been really serious with their Wellness Policy but alot of the guys leave because they don't wanna get caught, which is what happened with Jeff Hardy (who's now off the drugs since he's left and gone to TNA) Rey Mysterio was suspended some months back because he was using steroids and was getting them from the same doctor who was supplying Benoit

They even paid for rehab for Jake The Snake Roberts and Scott Hall, but Hall is still drinking unfortunately sad

Back in '96, alot of the main stars in WWE were on drugs (Shawn Michaels, Chris Candido, Davey Boy Smith, Scott Hall, Shawn Waltman)

Triple H would the one I'd expect to be on roids but he's pretty much been clean eek

Vince never encouraged them to use steroids but with the demands he set on the guys's schedule and shape, it happens neutral

I think it was the 1997 King of The Ring, It was him and Stone Cold fighting, this was before Shawn turned heel and he and Stone Cold were tag team champions. Notice he looked dizzy when going to the ring. He still had a great match but there were parts where you think "what's going on with HBK?"
