Need More WinRAR technical Help

I started a thread about this back in May but I guess it's too old to reply to now?

My original question was how do you reassemble WinRar files into video? I have no problem with the music files, so I'm not a TOTAL stooge, but the video I can't figure out for anything!

I have 88 WinRar files titled Disc1.part001 through Disc 1.part088 with the little "three book" icon next to them (WinRar file icon).

I have no way to know if this is all of the files or not. It's always possible the set in incomplete. You never know when you are downloading them.

These WinRar files were extracted from the QuickPar files:

Disc 1.vol000 .01.PAR2 through Disc 1.vol445 27.PAR2

I used QuickPar to extract the WinRar files from the files I downloaded.

Next I use WinRar to extract to a designated folder. When I open that designated folder I have three items in there:

1. A folder with two more folders inside:

AUDIO_TS (this folder is empty)

VIDEO_TS (this folder has the following inside)

VIDEO_TS.BUP

VIDEO_TS.IFO

VIDEO_TS.VOB

VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_0.IFO

VTS_01_0.VOB

VTS_01_1.VOB

VTS_01_2.VOB

VTS_01_3.VOB

I have NO IDEA what these files are. Their icon appears to be a white piece of paper with the top right corner folded down?

2. The next file is an ISO file with the name of my video preceding it. i.e. SongOFTheSouth.ISO

3. The last file again has the white paper with the folded right corner icon. and .MDS after it. i.e. SongOfTheSouth.MDS

Where do I go from here? I have tried burning the ISO file to a disc but that doesn't seem to work. My hard drive is full up with this stuff and I need to move it. I don't want to delete it but will be forced to if I can't figure this out soon.

PLEASE HELP!

http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe

download that and burn the iso with it

par files are for checking downloads, usually from usenet, mds files are similar check files

if you extract the iso to

VIDEO_TS (this folder has the following inside)

VIDEO_TS.BUP

VIDEO_TS.IFO

VIDEO_TS.VOB

VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_0.IFO

VTS_01_0.VOB

VTS_01_1.VOB

VTS_01_2.VOB

VTS_01_3.VOB

then you have to use nero or something to burn the files to dvd. the AUDIO_TS folder is only for dvd audio files, so is empty on all dvd video discs

bear in mind you've just illegally downloaded a copywritten movie that's not officially released on dvd anywhere in the world and likely taken from the japenese laserdisc rip as it's a movie considered racist. if you want to find out how to zip a dee doo da a winrar file there are other sites you can google up instead

Just so I don't get flamed here.... Song Of The South was just an example I pulled out of the air, NOT a file I am trying to decrypt. biggrin

I've downloaded and installed the DVD Decrypter but it appears to be only for the purpose of transfering DVD's to your hard drive.

Is there a way to go the other direction and burn from your hard drive to a DVD?

As far as I'm aware, the DVD encrypter will make an ISO file of which you will save to your hard drive. You will then need to use something like Nero to burn the ISO to DVD.

if you have Nero you can choose 'burn image file to disk'

if you don't this should work too

OK, I figured how to go from the hard disk to DVD...

Select "Mode"

Select "ISO"

Select "Write"

So I'm good....

Then I choose my ISO file to burn....

Select my write speed as "6x" since my DVD supports 8x

DVD appears to burn...

Now I'm getting an error message:

I/O Error!

Device: [1:0:0] PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P BD1B (Esmile (ATA)

ScisStatus: 0x02

Interpretation: Check Condition

CDB: 28 00 00 00 1D 99 00 00 01 00

Interpretation: L-EC Uncorrectable Error

This is total Greek to me. I'm in over my head! Any ideas out there?

it sounds like your media is shit. try some better quality discs. apart from that you seem to have done the right thing. you can google up "how to use..." for better details

1) Within Nero under "Photo and Video" select "Burn DVD-Video Files".

2) Add the folder that contains all this stuff:

VIDEO_TS.BUP

VIDEO_TS.IFO

VIDEO_TS.VOB

VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_0.IFO

VTS_01_0.VOB

VTS_01_1.VOB

VTS_01_2.VOB

VTS_01_3.VOB

3) Click next then click burn to your blank DVD.

That should do it. All those files make up the content of the DVD (main movie, menus, subtitles, audio tracks, special features, extras, etc...).

Snap...unless if course those files are original size - most blank DVDs are only 4Gb single layer where as bought are dual layer and hold more info.

Try dvdshrink if it's too big

it's unlikely as VOB files usually have a max size of 1gb and song of the south isn't out officially on dvd and the only boots of it that i've heard of are on dvd5's, not dual layer discs. he would have received a warning saying the disc didn't have enough free space or something if that was the case

there are legal free versions of nero these days, plus the usual 30 day trial version of the full thing, both for download on nero.de

OK, I've got the ISO figured out. Thank you.

I tried the Nero but the free version doesn't seem to allow the burning that I am trying to do, so my IFO's are no good.

Does anyone know what to do with .MKV or .CUE files?

I'm going to get this hard drive cleaned up yet!

mkv files you need to play on your pc or streamer, they aren't disc images. you burn cue files in nero or other iso burning software
