Amateur medical advice, anyone?

Saturday, after getting home from lunch (a few hours after eating), I got sick. I chalked it up to food poisoning and went on my merry way.

Today (Wednesday), I got the same thing (cramps/nausea), about an hour after lunch.

Different restaurants.

Should I be running to the doctor?

Saturday, I had the following (Czech restaurant):

"Beef in Sauerbraten Sauce":

Served with bread dumplings, topped with cranberries and creme fraiche.

I also had a glass of beer, a slice of cheesecake and a glass of ice water.

Today, I ate:

hamburger with a buncha condiments on it; salad w/Balsamic dressing; Diet Pepsi on ice.

How's the weather where you are? I find that if I eat a huge lunch when it's very hot, I get nauseated after lunch.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Hot, but not uncomfortably so (right now, weather.com says '82, feels like 87').

I don't think you need to rush, but if it's chronic I would maybe go to a walk-in.

Okay, well obviously not "chronic", at this point, but will keep that in mind. Thanks!

Many types of food poisoning can affect you for days. I couldn't keep food down for five days during a really bad bout and it wasn't even salmonella. Be sure you stay super hydrated and try to eat foods that are easy on the stomach if you're still feeling sick.

Dairy products is the worst you can have for an upset stomach. They'll make you throw up.

Actually, it sounds like you have standard acid-reflux disease.

When you eat, don't eat less than two hours before going to bed. Don't drink alcohol or coffee and try to prop your head when sleeping, so the acid goes downhill.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Sounds like a lot for lunch, did you eat in a rush? Are you stressed more than normal?

Unlikely to be poisoning so quickly, but the effects can stay a while.

I have had years of gatsro problems Drs are useless. Diagnosis, probably some bacterial infection I had over ten years ago!!!!

Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

Did you get sick the second time?

Do you feel bad? Any other symptoms? This ever happen before?

You may just have a stomach bug...a virus. It may just be making your stomach funky no matter what you eat. You can have a stomach virus and not have any other symptoms (fever, cough, etc.). I wouldn't be rushing to the doctor just yet. I'd give it a week or so. Of course it's up to you. If you'd feel better going to the doctor because you don't trust a girl you don't know who's only 3 semesters into nursing school then fine.... rolleyes
