Corn on the Cob! I had some of this tonight for dinner, and boy was it ever good! When buying corn on the cob, it's best to buy it at a farmer's market or a roadside stand, instead of buying it at a supermarket. I've had the corn on the cob that they sell in the supermarket, but it's not half as good as corn that is grown, picked and sold the same day at a farmer's market or a roadside stand. My on the matter, based on my own personal experience.

I gotta buy some more of this stuff, it was sooooo yummy! Fresh corn on the cob doesn't last too long around here, so I gotta buy it while I can! RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I rub it down with olive oil, then some house blend*, and put it on the grill (no husks, just the corn on the cob), and cook it that way. It's so good.
I'm paranoid about biting into it though, so I will get a knife and take all the corn off the cob and eat it. Just as fresh and good.

Yum! I've never tried olive oil, but that sounds delicious! Cutting the corn off the cob probably prevents corn from getting stuck in your teeth. That's the one thing I hate about eating corn on the cob. I always have to brush my teeth thorougly after eating corn on the cob to make sure I don't have any left in my mouth. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I'm a purist. Butter and salt, baby. That's it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Ooooo I love corn on the cob. I saw them making it on Food Network with Parmesan cheese, and thought of trying it that way. Here is the recipe if anyone else wants to try it...
Corn on the Cob with Parmesan Cheese
Ingredientsnocoupons
DirectionsHeat the oil in a heavy small skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and saute until tender and fragrant, about 1 minute. Remove the skillet from the heat and cool. Set aside 2 tablespoons of the Parmesan cheese and stir the rest into the garlic mixture, along with the parsley and salt. Cook the corn in a large saucepan of boiling salted water until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Using tongs, transfer the corn to a platter. Brush the cheese mixture over the hot corn and serve. Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons of cheese on top of the corn.

I really want to try it on the grill sometime. I'm kind of surprised I haven't already, actually. I've always thought it sounded delicious. ~ I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR ~

What's funny is, I can eat corn on the cob until I'm full. But if I eat popcorn, it gives me diarreah. Go figure. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yup.
Sometimes I'll do pepper as well, but yeah. Guess I'm a semi-purist.

If I have a choice, that would be it. But I'll eat it any way it's served. My brother-in-law pulls back the husk, pulls out the silk, puts some sort of sweet marinade on it, puts the husk back down and then grills it. I can't lie - it's freakin' tasty! But I'd still rather just have butther and salt (and freshly cracked pepper - but I just love cracked pepper veggies).
In regards to purchasing the corn. Man, I still haven't figured out how to know when it's exactly right. I've purchased corn at the grocery store (where you have the biggest chance of it being off the stalk for the longest amount of time), the farmers market, roadside stands AND I grow it in my own yard. It's nearly always good (I have had flavorless corn - not good), but it's different almost every time. For being such a versatile vegetable it definitely has a perfect time for harvest in it's growth cycle. But when you do get the perfect size, juicy, sweet kernels...

Of course butter and salt and nothing else. There's no other way to eat it.
One more very important thing: The picture at the top of this thread is very wrong. White corn is the only way to go, not yellow. And it goes without saying that the white corn should be from Iowa.
That is all. | |

Oh my God! This thread just made me remember my dream last night!!
I dreamt I was changing the sheets on a bed - it wasn't my bed, I have no idea whose it was... anyway, the sheets were COVERED in shit and there were lumps of sweetcorn in it. I pulled the sheet off and put it in the washing machine. Then had to clean out the washing machine cos it was full of sweetcorn.
What a gross dream.
....anyway, I thought i'd share that with you.
Btw, Yes, I love corn on the cob.
