My boss will have on a decent (for her) business suit, then you look down and she'll have on something like colorful platform flip-flops with a big flower on them.
Oh boy.
See, I like flipflops. I do ALOT of walking during the summer -- miles per day. They are comfortable, cute, and I have them in every color.
However.
There is a time and there is a place. Business suits and flipflops? They should be sniped.
Trust me- if I could, I would. And not just because of the footwear. That might be the one thing that would push me over the edge when I finally snap!

I had to work this weekend along with most of my team. I was in one of the kitchens getting coffee and heard the sound of flip flops echoing down the hall. Just for giggles I came out of the kitchen with a fairly large knife raised up slasher style. The offender was my boss.
The funniest part was her stammering about how she didn't think I would be there yet! She had her "real" shoes in her bag.

Pfft. I have both. Sandals, flip flops...whatev. I wear sandals when I'm going out. But around the house, going to the pool, or just around the way (aka nowhere special), I will be rocking flip flops. Ah well, to each his/her own. |

How are flip flops any different than wearing any open foot shoe - sandals, mules, even high heel ones.
You're seriously kidding yourselves if you think you're not picking up germs wearing any of those.
Guess all those terrified of germs are wearing full shoes all year round...and I would suppose gloves too because we all know that the most germs are found on people's hands.
If you just don't like the look, cool, that's one thing...but to say they are any worse than any other type of shoe that exposes the foot is just silly.
I have to disagree with you on this one... I am a foot flop wearer, so when in Houston 2 years ago I wore them to walk around downtown and do site seeing... When we got back to the motel my feet were BLACK! Im not kidding, black and filthy on the tops of my feet and toes... It has never happened when I wear other shoes... ~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~ |

Whatever.
Y'all can walk around in Bangkok for a day with closed toe shoes, say sneekers or whatever, but I'll stick with keeping my feet cool and clean thank you very much. They're easy to take off or put on (essential since in some places you need to do that here) and easy to clean. They're less sweaty in hot weather, being open as they are. You can clean them often or not at all, just buying a new pair instead (since they're so cheap) if you like.
I have four or five pairs of flip-flops. Plenty of other shoes too, but I probably wear flip-flops 90% of the time I'm wearing footwear. I go barefoot a lot too, and not just in the house. MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!! |
