Remember when you could get by on one job?

Now it seems you have to work two. I have a good job and i am considering working a second job to give me some play money. I remember when one job did this. I can remember when only one family member had to work and took care of the whole family. What happened?

Therapy

Maybe people aren't satisfied with doing a job just for the money and so are taking posts that they would really love to have, but don't pay the mortgage or something and then need a second job to back them up financially?

I am unable to rely on counselling as a means to an end, esp. cos Ive just started out. Its not a career that I can financially depend on yet. So I'm looking into a creative option that I can rely on more for a steady income and very much enjoy at the same time... so far, Ive come up with Drama teacher... biggrin

Well, you're lucky. you know, in Israel, most families live on over-drafts. thank God it's allowed here in Israel.
My guess is about 50-75% have over drafts here.

The cost of living is almost the same as in the US. actually a bit more expensive than the US, but salleries are about 1/2.

I must be...inflation didn't really rise 1000% between 1974-1980. Families everywhere didn't really move up into the higher tax-brackets. It didn't really happen. It was all a dream. I MUST be kidding...

And if it wasn't for minimal wages, some people would have 2 work 5 jobs.

I still don't c how this answers theC's question.

It's cool because it's working in the right direction.

Minimum wage?! You would need 5 jobs to support a family on minimum wage.

Yeah now days it seems like you do have to have two jobs just to pay the bills and if your married or living with someone both people have to work, I always thought that was the way it should be anyway, why should just one person be out workin while the other one is sitting on his or her ass at home or running around shopping and spending all the money. It takes two now days.
