LeBron James booed at Carmelo Anthony's wedding

Last Saturday, while you were enjoying bratwursts and s'mores, Carmelo Anthony(notes) was marrying LaLa Vasquez, an MTV VJ. Cool weekend plans, I suppose. And since Melo is a big-time NBA baller, he attracted more than a few celebrities to his New York City nuptials. In attendance were Kim Kardashian, Spike Lee, Justin Timberlake and Ludacris, who hopefully provided entertainment during the reception. Oh, and LeBron James(notes), whom you may have heard of.

That's right — LeBron James was in New York City just two days after choosing the Miami Heat in his highly rated one-hour ESPN special. You can imagine how well that went over with Knick fans.

From Fox Sports:

[LeBron] James was greeted by a round of loud boos from angry New Yorkers outside the wedding in Cipriani 42nd Street when he arrived with his girlfriend Savannah Brinson, myFOXny.com reported.

Geez, LeBron. Way to almost ruin your friend's wedding by choosing to play in Miami. It's like that old saying: "You made your multi-millon dollar free-agency bed, now get booed by Knick fans in it." Or something like that. LBJ might as well hear the jeers now, since he'll be getting heckled basically everywhere but Miami-Wade County. Better to start with a few scattered New Yorkers than 20,000 rabid Clevelanders who hate his guts.

Of course, if those same classy Knick fans had stuck around a little longer, they might have gotten some good news. According to the New York Post's Marc Berman, attendee Chris Paul(notes) made a pretty interesting speech at the ceremony.

During Carmelo Anthony's wedding Saturday night at Cipriani's on 42nd Street, Chris Paul, the superstar New Orleans point guard, predicted a future Knicks Dream Team. [...]

According to a person who spoke with wedding attendee Amar'e Stoudemire(notes), Paul made the reference during a speech of a potential union of himself, Stoudemire and Anthony, saying, "We'll form our own Big 3," Paul allegedly said.

I'm sure that won't get New York fans' hopes up for the summer of 2012. Surely they'll take this potential joining of forces in stride and not get too upset if it never comes to fruition. At least I hope that's the case because VJs don't grow on trees these days. If things change, it'd be unfortunate for Knicks fans to have to boo Chris Paul for passing Jesse Camp on the street.

For months, I kept telling these young Knick fans the real deal, but they didn't want to hear it. Bunch of fucking morons.

And if you're a Knick/Yankee fan, you can't say shit about what Pat Riley and the Heat did.

Not the first time. In the playoffs, Phil set a play for the final shot to go to Kukoc. Pip didn't like it so he benched himself, Toni hit the shot and the won.

A 2 second play out of a 14 year career. That simple.

His manhood ws also in questionin those Piston series. I think he didn't play a game 7 cause of a "headache"

Correct. nod Some of us feel kind of cheated that we never had a Bulls VS. Rockets NBA Finals series.

Man! You, too!? That's the ONLY finals I wanted see: 95 Rockets vs 96 Bulls.

The good thing about the 95-96 Chicago Bulls is the fact that the all-time best regular season record of 72-10 will NOT be bested anytime soon, if ever.

The bad thing about them is the fact that the Seattle Sonics were THE worst team ever to face the Jordan-era Bulls in NBA Finals history. disbelief Even today, I wonder if the Bulls lost Game 4 & 5 on purpose so they can have the party in Chicago instead of Seattle. I still believe the Houston Rockets would have definitely put up a better fight then those sorry Sonics. lol

That was back in the days when Scottie & Rodman were bitter enemies. If Scottle had an headache, it was because of those hard fouls by Rodman AND MaHorn.

Kevin Duckworth was an non-factor in the 1992 NBA Finals.

A two-time NBA all-star, Kevin had potential. But he never lived up to the hype like he should have due to his weight problem. I also found out on Wiki that the poor guy died of heart failure. disbelief

It's not just him, but I've been watching(in amazement) the sports reporters of the caucasion race, bad talk LeBron for leaving as well. It seems that since they didn't have a say in his decision, or have the opportunity to pen his departing speech, that he's now some selfish egomaniac who has betrayed the trust rich white men have put in him. Him having an hour long special where he announces his decision(which they sat and watched for the entire hour) was the worst thing a human being could do. They crack me up. Michael Jordon, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe, Shaq and Kareem all shared their rosters with other all-stars. How the fuck can LeBron deminish his legacy by going to a team with two other all stars? I say smart move and kick ass next season LeBron. I'm a Chicago fan by the way. lol

I think the argument is Magic, Larry, Michael, Hakeem, the truly great ones had their own shit - they were THE MAN on their teams. LeBron was the man in Cleveland, but he's giving that up to be part of someone else's team. But a lot of that's on Gilbert for not supplying James with a better surrounding cast. He should have gone for Stoudemire.

I heard LeBron wanted to stay in Cleveland and tried to recruit Bosh, but Bosh wanted NO part of that city.

Gilbert and the media sold the idea of LeBron as the second coming of Michael Jordan. LeBron himself never made that assertion. It is obvious if you followed his career that LeBron doesn't and never had the "killer mentality" of wanting to take the final shot. He was criticized earlier in his career for passing the ball on those occasions and was criticized at the end of the Boston series for the same thing. He can and will score on anyone at will, but he's more comfortable being a passer in the big moments. Dwayne lives for that moment which makes Miami a perfect situation for LeBron.

I enjoy reading your posts. It pretty much sums up the truth here. I don't get all the

hate over the man having a fucking press conference to announce where he's playing

next season but yet they have no problem reporting when Brett Favre farts. I mean

would the press conference not have been as bad if he announced he was staying in

Cleveland. lol

LeBron didn't declare himself "king". Nike did when he was still a high-school player with the King James sneakers. That LeBron took it as a marketing tool was a smart move on his part, it earned him countless millions. But he didn't start that.

Yes it was Nike. I do remember ESPN broadcasting his final high school games and the "King James" being on his Nikes. They weren't penciled in they were factory made. Read my post, I said he made a smart business move by using it as a marketing tool. But he(LeBron) didn't declare himself king.

True. I never thought Bron labeled himself king. I always thought it was a moniker given

to him from the media upon his entry into the NBA.
