Chris Rock And Adam Sandler To Produce Richard Pryor Biopic Comic legend Richard Pryor has inspired legions of comedians and now he’s inspiring a big-screen movie. Pryor’s life will be turned into a biopic produced by Chris Rock and Adam Sandler and starring Marlon Wayans. “Richard Pryor: Is It S...I Said?” will tell Pryor’s story from his childhood at his grandmother’s Peoria, Illinois, brothel to his rise on the comedy scene to his struggle with drug addiction. Eddie Murphy, who co-starred with the groundbreaking comedian in 1989’s “Harlem Nights,” was originally attached to the project, but reportedly passed because of “creative differences.” Meanwhile, Pryor, who died in 2005 at age 65, had selected “The Hangover” star Mike Epps as his personal choice. But Rock, 45, says it was “Scary Movie” and “G.I. Joe” funny guy Wayans who was born to play the role. "Marlon Wayans, he did a screen test and it was just unbelievable," Rock told MTV News. "It's not just doing the comedy of Richard Pryor. He captures the vulnerability of Richard Pryor." Bill Condon will direct the film – once he’s finished working on the two-part “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” – and Sandler, 43, says shooting will begin “hopefully, soon. It’s all being worked on.” In the meantime, Wayans, 37, is confident he will make Pryor proud. "You need to be lucky in life, but it's also what you do with your luck," he told the L.A. Times. "I'm ready."

I some Marlon Wayans and I am looking forward to seeing it. But, my only question is if Mike Epps was Richard Pryor's personal choice, wouldn't a producer want to respect his wishes? Dyes Got the Answers 2 Ur ?s

You would think they would if they wanted to respect personal wishes, but since this is an industry based on money, then it's more of like a business decision. I have no doubt that Mike Epps would have done a fine job in this role, but maybe they saw something more in Marlon Wayans that would appeal to general audiences. The film is going to star Marlon Wayans as Pryor. Eddie is out due to the fact that he and Richard were close and Epps was out of the running years ago. If you all are wondering if Wayans can pull off the dramatic scenes, I suggest you watch Requiem of a Dream. He was excellent in that. That's been on HBO a few times. I tried to watch it when it first aired, but I got kind of bored within the first half hour and switched to something else. I did record it on my DVR so I will go back and watch it just to catch his performance. | |

I always seem to hate biopics or end up thinking they're good at first, then end up hating them.

The only one that I will agree with you on is, Ali. The script was bad and there were too many cameo's. The rest were pretty good. I think Richard's bio, will be okay. The one that concerns me is the planned Bob Marley, pic. At one time, they wanted Jaime Fox, to play Marley. One of his son's said, "HELL NO!!"
