Recommend FAMILY FRIENDLY movies I need a some recommendations on family friendly movies that aren't just about fluffy things having adventures.
I'm talking about movies like (what roodboi introduced to me) Lars & The Real Girl, or "Indian Summer".
Movies with a bit of complexity, but not with nudity or tons of cursing.
Got any recommendations?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. May be some scary monsters and a bit of violence, but overall, good family flics (I think).

The original The Parent Trap - the one with Haley Mills, Maureen O'Hara and Brian Keith.
Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies of all time. Sometimes, when I've had a particularly bad day, I go home, put on my pajamas and watch Mary Poppins while I color in coloring books. Seriously. It always makes me feel better.
National Velvet (awesome) Oliver (though it's a little scary in places) The Sound of Music Finian's Rainbow (that might be a little harder to find) The King and I Bedknobs and Broomsticks The Black Stallion

Isn't Bedknobs and Broomsticks gay themed?
Not that it matters since this is Thailand, but still.

I should say that just about everything that was done while the Production Code was in effect would be family friendly. You might check out Astaire and Rogers films like Top Hat, Swing Time, Follow the Fleet, and Carefree. If the kids are a little older, Topper, Bringing Up Baby and The Thin Man would be good choices, too. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Steel Magnolias(I don't know whether you can call this a family friendly or a chick flick, but I noticed that almost everybody enjoys it).
A Home Of Our Own
Meet Me In St. Louis
Easter Parade
Out Of Africa
Baby Boom
Curly Sue
She's Having A Baby
A Christmas Tale
Fanny & Alexander
I'm assuming you'll need subtitles for the last two films.

Syphilis and domestic violence are family friendly? Really? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Its only a small fraction of the whole story, so yes, bigger picture-wise the film is universal.
And anyway, I find the subliminal messages in those so-called family oriented Disney movies to be more offensive and dangerous

The Secret Garden Around the World in Eighty Days (1956) Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Charles Dickens: Oliver Twist standard and/or the musical (1968) Great Expectations, David Copperfield 1935, 1969, 1999 - I really like this version, 2000 Treasure Island (1950) The Railway Children 1970 or 2000 versions. . . both are good Little Lord Fauntleroy Monsters, Inc (animation) UP (animation) Race To Witch Mountain The Little Princess (1995)

I wouldn't have grouped Lars & The Real Girl as Family Friendly lol Although I guess, sex dolls aside, it is.

Holes (Despite the title it is very family friendly)
Bend it Like Beckham (Again, despite the title it is very family friendly)
The Harry Potter series
Sense & Sensibility & Pride and Prejudice (If it's grown up family)
The Benchwarmers (Okay, this one is pushing it because it has it's moments)
The Shrek series
I'm firmly planted in denial

Probably one of my top 20 favorite movies of all time is Searching for Bobby Fischer with Ben Kingsley, Lawrence Fishburne and Joan Allen.
Phenomenally acted feed good movie. It's about a young boy's love of chess. (Yes somehow it is stilll very captivating and heartfelt).
