remember when I fell in the grocery store 25 months ago???

First let me say HI!! I havent been here in like forever... hope all is well with all of you! mushy

Remember when I fell like 2 years ago in the grocery store and hurt my ankle??? Well, I had an incredibly painful surgery to fix the ligaments that I tore out during my fall about a year and a half ago, long story, but eventually they listened to me and found the problem then fixed it.

I knew THAT NIGHT that something was very wrong and that I needed help - obviously something had gone wrong during surgery and things were going south quickly. Again noone listened to me, so for the last year and a half I have been hobbling around on this bad ankle trying to get someone to listen and help. I heard everything from, "youre depressed, take some antidepressants" to "I think you may be addicted to pain meds" to "why wont you just try harder to make yourself better" to "well, I think its all in your head" to name a few. Oh, and my personal favorite.... "everyone thinks your're faking it, you should just stop faking" mad

Anyway, I got into a very good doctor a few days ago. About an hour and a half drive, then a 3 hour wait in the office, not to mention the 2 1/2 month wait for my appointment to begin with!!!! He listened to me and then he examined me. He says my ankle is GROSSLY unstable and now has more damage on top of the original problem. There is nerve problems involved now as well that have to be addressed. Surgery is sometime in the next 3-4 weeks.

Here's the thing... he wants to send me home with a pain pump. I need to know if anyone has ever had one of these before or seen one??? what is it? where does it go? how does it work? is it worth having? like seriously, I looked it up and most of them say they are in your back. That cant be because he said I can most likely remove it myself. plus, there is no freaking way I'm pulling something outta my spine!!!!! The arm or something is bad enough...

I dont know where I can go to reach so many people at once, hope someone here knows the answer, I've been looking it up on the net, but honestly the more I read about it the more freaked out I'm getting!!!

again, I hope everyone is doing ok! grouphug

NEKKY!!! hug excited

Damn glad to see you honey!

So sorry this has all gone down like it has. Wish I knew about those pumps, but the only ones I know about are the pain pumps you get in the hospital, and I know nothing about the logistics of them.

Only silver lining I see in this is that you'll be here more often! hug

Really easy for scar tissue become a problem after any surgery. I don't know why doctors would rather pretend it doesn't need to be re-examined.

I totally agree with you there!!!

This has become a much larger problem than any of us thought it would I suspect. I am no doctor, but I do know my body. Had they only have listened over a year ago, perhaps it would have been a much easier fix.

Lesson learned... doctors are great, but you know your body. Dont let someone else tell you how you feel!!!

I have no experience with a pain pump, so I can't be any help on that. But I have way too much experience with what you've been going through. I'm so, so sorry that you've had to endure so much resistance in your attempts to just get better! It sucks.

hug I remember when you fell and hurt your ankle, and I'm sorry that it's still giving you problems.

I had a pain pump when I had abdominal surgery done almost 9 years ago. From what I remember, I don't think it went into my spine, rather, I think it was in my arm. I loved that pain pump, because it was on a timer, so I could only push it to administer the pain med every so many minutes. Every time I would feel the pain start, I would push the pump to get the pain med going through my veins. I loved that thing.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I do hope you are starting some form of legal proceedings. This sounds like a right mess, I can only begin to imagine the stress it's put you thru.
