Interesting trade. | |

Sounds like the Hornets got the best part of the deal. Shows that they may really be willing to shake things up in an effort to keep CP3 in town, too. | |

Isiah's Out(sort of....)
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/knicks/2010/08/11/2010-08-11_nba_sources_say_isiah_turns_down_knicks_gig.html
Brain-Dead Dolan;
"Although I'm disappointed that Isiah will not be working with the Knicks as a consultant, I continue to believe in his basketball knowledge, including his ability to judge talent," Dolan, the Knicks' defiant owner, said in a statement.
When Walsh leaves, I guarantee Isiah will be back as GM or team president. Knicks are still doomed.

This Lorenzen Wright story gets shadier every day;
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP)—The ex-wife of slain former NBA player Lorenzen Wright told police she saw him leave her home carrying money and a box of drugs the night he disappeared, according to court documents obtained Wednesday. Sherra Wright said her ex-husband left her home at 10:30 p.m. on July 18 with the drugs, returned a short time later, then left again with an unspecified amount of money, said an affidavit for a search warrant by Memphis police Sgt. W.D. Merritt. Before he left, Sherra Wright said she overheard her ex-husband on the telephone telling someone that he was going to “flip something for $110,000,” the document said. Sherra Wright said Lorenzen Wright left her home in a car with a person she said she could not identify. Hours later, police dispatchers received a 911 call from Wright’s cell phone and heard noises like gunshots before the call was dropped. Wright’s body was found July 28 in woods outside Memphis. The 34-year-old had been missing for 10 days. No arrests have been made in the homicide and Memphis police will not discuss whether they have a motive or suspects in the shooting death. The affidavit said Sherra Wright gave the statements to police in the Memphis suburb of Collierville, where she lives, on July 27—five days after the former University of Memphis basketball star’s mother filed a missing person report. Sherra Wright also told police that her ex-husband owned a shotgun that he kept at her home and a handgun he kept inside the family van. A search of the home and the van failed to turn up the weapons, the affidavit said. Police did find shell casings of different caliber bullets at the scene where Wright was shot, but they could not find Wright’s cell phone. The affidavit said police were going to use documents showing ownership of the two weapons to see if they match the bullet shell casings recovered at the crime scene. Wright, a 6-foot-11 forward-center, played with five teams during his 13-year NBA career. He averaged 8 points and 6.4 rebounds in 778 career NBA games.

How long before we hear....."police have issued an arrest warrant of ex-wife".........? | |

I read that LW story the other day but decided not to post it. The whole thing is just a mess. Even if the wife is involved, it's still looking like LW was into some shady business. | |

Lance Stephenson was charged with pushing his girlfriend down a flight of stairs, police said. Stephenson roughed up Jasmine Williams, 21, in the stairwell of her Brooklyn apartment building at about 5 a.m., according to police. Stephenson's blows sent Williams tumbling head-first down 10 steps, requiring her to be treated at a hospital for injuries to her head and neck, cops said. What fool pushes someone down a flight of stairs? | |

Who is Lance Stephenson? I mean, pushing somebody down a flight of stairs is ignorant (unless it's self-defense, then it's quite affective). But really, who is this guy? I honestly have no idea. Anyway, glad the girl is OK. | |

He's the Pacers second round pick, and former NYC high school basketball star. Not only did he push her down the stairs, but he slammed her head against a step like a basketball. Fucktard.

LeBron: Gilbert never cared...

What's with this caring shit? Who expects their boss to care about them? All they have to do is pay you.

All players are different, just like all owners are different. Some owners participate in team activities/operations and some are just there to be "the money". Some players just want to be paid and left alone. But some are obviously more needy on many different levels. I think LeBron is probably accurate in his assessment of the situation. However, now is not the right time to talk about it. Now is the time to just shut up and let this all blow over. More importantly, it's the time to focus on the work that needs to be done in Miami. He can write his book about all this stuff after he's retired.
Secondary opinion on all this; I think everything that's taken place since the end of last season really shows the immaturity of LeBron and parts of his management team. However, it still doesn't make me think any less of him right now. Dude is young and he's learning as he goes. Many other players have had to go through the same process. But I can't think of any who have done so with such a bright light on every step they take. Even Kobe, who didn't exactly make all the right decisions along the way, didn't have to deal with the media like LeBron has. I'm still waiting to see how LeBron handles the next ten years before I make any solid decisions regarding his character.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Thoughts on Caremelo....
I hold nothing against him regarding whatever decision he makes. Like LeBron, he already signed one extension and helped make his team relevant again. This is the way of the NBA now and I really have no problem with it. It's the way their contracts are written and it's the way they're meant to work. The only difference is that players are taking more advantage of the leverage they have to move themselves where they want to go. Basically, they're smarter now. Maybe a bit less loyal, but definitely smarter.
That being said, there really is no guarantee that Carmelo would EVER wind up in NY. His only real shot was to play to the end of his contract and hope the Knicks could afford him then. I'm actually surprised that the Nuggets would even talk about a trade. Would they want to resign Curry? If not, why wouldn't they just play this season with Carmelo and then let him move on. They were pretty solid last season until Coach Karl fell ill. Doesn't really make much sense to let him go before they have to.
The extension they were offering him, though... woooow! Three years for 65 million, or something around there. Dude isn't gonna make that much anywhere else. So here again we have a superstar who will probably end up taking less money in order to play where they want. Like I said, I really don't have a problem with that.
Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony on the same team? I would definitely watch more Knicks games this season.
