Holy shit. My window is open and I just heard... A pack of coyotes take down some animal. That was crazy, and kinda creepy.
Ok, I better go to bed now.

It was like a Twilight movie out there!
that movie is about werewolves and vampires, right? Well if they were to fight pack to pack, I imagine that's what it would sound like. [Edited 8/17/10 0:25am]

Kids over here. From 8AM to 9PM on summer days.
I'd prefer coyotes. | |

At our house in the New Mexico mountains, the coyotes at night sound like a group of women laughing. At least, I think those are coyotes. It's weird.

I can imagine. Sounds pretty crazy.

OK, so talking about weird sounds... There's a pond near my house that is home to some Canadian geese, beavers and other assorted fish and fowl. At night that thing comes alive with an assortment of weird noises. Do geese quack or yortle or whatever they do, all night? They never shut up! Then I hear what sounds like a man moaning...swear to God it sounds like someone's dying, but I was told it was bull frogs. Then the owls start up with that woooo hoooooo noise at all hours.

They do here too
We have coyotes ... fox and bob cats visit weekly
wolf and bear not as often
i LOVE all the night creatures and the sounds ... when the fox kits yip to their mamas it's so cute
we have hoot ~ barn and screech owls all the time ~ even the evening bats make a fun little shrill chirp sound as the hunt

Ugh, I've heard that before too and it was an awful, awful sound. I mean I know it's nature and all but I never want to hear that again!!!

I expected the response to be:
myself leaning out the window topless screaming I WANT MORE!

I used to see coyotes all the time growing up. The feasted on the neighborhood cats. They were fearless, and did not hide from people.
Where I live now there are foxes. The first time I heard one it sounded like something in between a woman having sex and a baby being attacked But they are pretty small, and seem intimidated by the cats My Legacy

We have these dinks around in the spring before the pool is shocked....so annoying, but they leave on their own as soon as the pool is treated.

This is exactly what it sounded like.

That sounds great, I would love to see it. The only animals I see outside my window at night are deer. The only thing I hear are crickets making a racket outside. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

And last month I was driving to a late dinner (in the rain) and a little guy like this was standing in the middle of the road, totally stunned.
I pulled over, got out and scared him off. Poor little thing, it would have been smooshed as there was a lot of traffic. [Edited 8/17/10 11:09am]

I also remember camping when I was a kid and hearing this terrifying sound. I thought I was going to die, no one was willing to leave their tent to see what it was. I thought it was an old woman screaming.

I was woken up once by some loud hissing and growling and what sounded like clawing on the pavement right outside my window. When I opened it and aimed my flashlight at the ground, I saw two raccoons humping like crazy. I was literally just a meter or so away from them but there was no way they were stopping so I had to just wait it out.

I adore raccoons.
The babies purr when they are well fed and happy.

I'm trying to think of more that I've heard.

Actually, the worst wild animal sound I've ever heard was a rabbit screaming. I was leaving work and heard the most awful sound....I followed it to find a feral cat attacking a rabbit. I freaked the cat and it took off, so did the rabbit.
I don't want to search for a video with that sound.

I love it ~ far better then screaming cop cars and drunk neighbors
I see Deer almost every day here
We hear the night kills here and where we camp ~ it's a haunting experience but rather cool too
The mountian Lion screams ( though much more rare ! ) are spooky and beautiful
Bears snort and scuff
Out in Montana where I spent summers growing up the wolves would hunt and howl a few times each week right behind the ranch

I had one of these run out in front of my car once. A dying one came to the centre as well. They look cute from a distance but they are truly vicious buggers. I couldn't find any sounds.
