He's not the best SF of all time, but he's one of the top 5 at his position.

LeBron could wind up supplanting at least 2 of those players at the 3, but as of 8 July 2010, I say the top 5 stands. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

He's got to do better in the playoffs. Like Walt 'Clyde' Frazier says, the regular season is where you make your name, but the playoffs is where you make your fame. I'm thinking LeBron was more hurt than he let on. I didn't the same player I saw destroy the Pistons in the '07 playoffs.

There is NO DOUBT about it. I think he was hurt by his experience in 2007, when he carried a team to the Finals. I think he and Cleveland may have gotten a little of that "Dan Marino Syndrome," expecting they'd be back but not doing more to make sure they would. They took a great 2008 C's team to 7 the next year but got progressively worse.
I saw the same look in his eyes the 2004 Lakers had in Game 5 of that year's Finals. They knew it was ALL over. LBJ knew it too. The question is why. Injury may be a factor. But I think it was something else that has been spoken on for the last 2 months and needs no other mention by me. He couldn't trust his guys anymore. I thought it was more injury than anything else. Like Magic said, he didn't 'force his will' like he's done in the past.

I said he was best all around SF. No SF could get it done at a all time greatest level on both ends of the floor. Pip could score and play D. In fact, he was the one called upon to shut down the opposing teams best wing and sometimes their best PF. That's why MJ got to roam so much, making it look like he was the Defensive stopper when it was actually Pip. You can call me "ROC" for short

Believe when I tell ya, nobody was happier when Green Bay dropped kicked Brett Favre (Favre, Favre, Brett Favre ... my John Madden impression) ass and he went to New York, New York. Nobody was no more upset than I when Farve ass returned to the Black and Blue division. Even so he has won ... Favre that is. When you start calling yourself "King", yo' ass betta had won something. James doesn't own a crown nor does he have a ring. He has the nerve to hold a hour news conference shut up, play, and win something first, that's all I'm say-in'.

Bron: The Reluctant Superstar. It's just not his thing in being "The Man" like Kobe, Shaq, MJ, Magic, Bird, and Doc were. It's rare when an alpha male decides to play with another alpha male on that OTHER alpha male's team. Miami is gonna need role players though, so we'll see. You can call me "ROC" for short

Former NBA player Mel Turpin death ruled a suicide LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - -- Mel Turpin, former NBA player an All-American Kentucky center, committed suicide Thursday, authorities said. He was 49.
Police and the coroner were called to his North Lexington house Thursday afternoon on a personal injury call. They found Turpin dead. Coroner Gary Ginn says that Turpin had committed suicide, but would not say how. He also would not say whether Turpin left behind a suicide note. Margaret Burrus, his sister, tearfully told reporters outside her home that her brother was diabetic and trying to keep it under control. ``I didn't know he was depressed or anything,'' she said. ``I would have never said that he would have done this.''

Cavs Owner: LeBron Quit During Playoffs
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5365793
Talk about sour grapes. I have to laugh at Dan Gilbert and the rest of these bitter, angry Cavs fans. I understand this hurts the team, but in America, people have freedom of choice to work wherever they want. I guess that doesn't apply to pro athletes.

Why didn't he say that...........a week ago?

He went the wrong route to making the right decision. He knows the angst of sports fans in that city. To go on national TV and spurn them so publicly, you should expect many fans who've invested so much in you to turn on you. Had he broken it to Cleveland in a press release or conference instead of building it up so much, I would say those fans have no right to complain.
Gilbert was at least in part going for what wrestlers call the cheap pop. It was good business for him to try to tap into that anger. Problem was, he was too angry personally and just went over the top.
That being said, LBJ had 2 great options in front of him. Play with 1.5 superstars in Miami, or slide into a great situation with a talented roster in Chicago. He chose one of them. Can't fault him for that. Cleveland didn't have the roster. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

For real. I love you as long as you're with me but i'll hate you if you leave. LeBron's decision was simple. These guys(Bosh,Wade,James)obviously talked about this prior to the free agency period. These guys had to think we have to take down the Lakers and Celtics and i can't do it alone. Boston and the Lakers seem to add a piece to the puzzle every year so these guys had to think why can't we form our own team. And to these pundits out there saying oh this is LeBron joining Wade's team need to chill. Wade wouldn't get out the first or second round with his previous roster. I for one look forward to the 3 of these guys playing together. Dan Gilbert needs to shut the hell up with his claim the Cavs will win a title before LeBron. Don't laugh at my funk

But I do agree that LeBron did it the wrong way.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
It was the right decision. I'm sure most Clevelanders would tell you they understand why he left, but to announce it, before the world, on primetime TV after allowing all this buildup, is thoughtless. There are right ways and wrong ways to move on. You do it the right way, you can walk away with no regrets or blame for the other side's reaction. You do it the wrong way, you've pretty much asked for the hate that comes your way.
Then again, LBJ may care about the region, he doesn't give two cents' worth about the City's sports psyche. A guy that wears a Yankees hat to an Indians' home playoff game, and conspicuously hangs on the sidelines of the opponent in Browns stadium, and talks lovingly of the team and player who eviscerated THE HOMETOWN TEAM THAT HE PLAYS FOR really doesn't relate to Cleveland sports at all. In hindsight, those were warning signs.
Not saying what Gilbert did was unbecoming (though probably more calculated than appears at first blush). But Bron Bron set all this into motion by poor execution. He was talked into doing this by the guy who interviewed him, his best friend, and his celebrity agent. I don't care how much money he raised, that was dumb.
So I can understand why Cleveland reacted the way it did. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016
