I'm cutting down the time I spend here and cutting down the number of org friends I have on FB as my days at the org are coming to a close. I'm just moving on, grateful for the handful of friends I want as real 'keepers' that I'm really glad I've met here (and some irl) that have touched my life in some way or I feel are still relevant day-to-day with my life. Along with the fun times they are what I've got from my time on the org and I'm glad for that, but it's time to draw a line. I just find myself here less and less.

They're completely different experiences IMO.
On a board it's an open discussion whereas facebook is more like side conversations.
People don't necessarily post crazy ass "topics" on fb it's more something personal that happened/is happening/or an opinion on something then their friends chime in. [Edited 6/21/10 23:04pm] |

Thanks, I appreciate that. The thing is, I spend quite a bit of time on the net most days. Probably a little too much. I want to spend less time in general on the internet and I find myself drawn to here far less than I used to be. It's no longer one of the first sites I automatically open up in the morning, for one thing. FB's my fave place for keeping in touch with lots of different ppl from all over the world, and then more and more because I live where I do it feels more relevant to my life to spend time on a Thai site I go to. I just don't have as much time for this stuff as I once did so I need to trim it all down a bit and prioritize or I'm going to spread myself thinly and get distracted and less disciplined. Make sense? I've no intention to delete my org account though.

Awww....Thank you
I commend you, I've seriously been thinking about deleting my page on FB as well. I don't really interact with any of the people on my friends list on FB and I barely log in and if I do, it's because I've had to urge to get nosy and snoop through some people's photos...other than that, I've basically deleted all my information on there except for my relationship status and a few pics I posted on there a few years ago when I first joined the site. I'm a private person, I reallly don't like people that I "used to know" knowing what's going with me. If you are a real friend, you have my cell number already in your phone. It really doesn't have much use for me anymore as it does others...though I do fear if I delete my page there goes my connection to at least the few people I did care about in high school...then again, like I said, I nor they have interacted with me in a while. I have much more fun on the org. [Edited 6/22/10 4:55am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. |

I have a phone but never answer it.
I wasn't saying that FB is better or worse than the org, I was just wondering why people feel the need to take such a stance on it.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't see a clear difference. If you can spend time on here, why not there. Surely it's a question of who's on here and there?
For me it is - I find the more orgers I communicate to on FB, the more like here it becomes. Maybe it depends what you come here for. I come for the laughs mainly - and all the funny folk are on FB too! |

No stance from me there's no intrest to persure FB. I'm here because the primary theme of this board is Prince - I got lucky when I found folks who share the same tastes as myself. I hit the blogosphere for number of reasons too.
Another thing, I never put my personal infos(picture, real name, etc) in internet, which is what FB(and myspace) are mostly about; social networking. Nothing against folks who do though, its just my personal thing and I've always made a habbit of restricting the internet to escapism or business purposes only. Rest of the stuff are done outside of it. |
