I just found out one of my coworkers had a "True Blood" party the other night! She said she didn't invite me because she didn't think anyone else was a "vampire geek" like she was! "Love Hurts. Me too...
This did not disappoint me. Can't wait for Sunday.
I loved the very beginning when Sookie asked the French hostess if she'd seen anything and she said (in French with subtitles) "For the love of God! Fucking vampires! It's always nothing but shit."

I adore Lafayette...
His attitude, delivery, timing, and outfit!!! When Tara's mother, with her phony, preacher hittin' on ass tried to apologize for shooting at him with his own gun...
''Bitch, you/me bridge, it ain't gonna never motherfuckin' happen.''
The dialogue in this episode was priceless. [Edited 6/16/10 20:16pm] "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I'm curious about this show because I saw a couple of episodes from the first season but it never hooked me.
It felt sort of like a soap opera, and the drama just wasn't interesting. What keeps folks watching it? Perhaps I just tuned into the wrong shows and was distracted?
I know folks who love this thing more than any show they've ever seen. I'm just curious about what folks like about it. Perhaps I'll give it another try.

I was just like that when someone tried to get me to watch it. I was like, meh...the show I watched (can't remember which episode) just didn't hook me. But then I was bored one night and decided to give it another try and after about three shows it was over. I am so addicted.
I thnk it' sjust that even though the storylines are so out there and so totally unbelievable that they ARE believable. That makes no sense does it??? "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

I get what you're saying being hooked like I am.
The show is a bit soap-operaish, but more fun than that. The writing is outstanding. Lots of very funny, clever lines. Then there's the "scary" aspect. Things will jump out and be a complete surprise. Very fun!
Then, there's very hot men and women, straight and not straight sex (although the non straight stops @ 1st base right now whereas the straight sex scenes go all the way), nudity, blood, violence, love, friendship...you name it, it's there.
Then again...I luuuuuuuuurve the show, so I'm a little bias.

And Rutina Wesley may wanna watch Treme to hear a REAL Louisiana accent. Although it's NO and they have their distinct patois that shit ol' girl is trynna pass off as LA is truly atrocious.
BTW Is anyone checking for Treme? I'm loving that show too. It has some great live musical performances. HBO is still the kang of quality ORIGINAL programming.

I am so "Anti Twilight"...
I started watching "Vampire Diaries", too. It's like Dawson's Creek with fans", but I watch anyway.
I am almost finished with my latest "30 Days of Night" book, then I have to read a book we're thinking of introducing into the curriculum for next school year, then it's the "Sookie Stackhouse Series" for me. Then I'll read my latest Stephen King book- "Blockade Billy". It's on my shelf, but I think I'll read the SSS first. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I started reading the books about 3 shows into TB Season 1.
I try to look at the books and the shows as two separate things now, especially with how AB is working up Eric.
I love the more beefed up rolls of Jason and Lafayette. I'm kinda meh about Tara's beefed up roll.
I liked the maenad story more in the book. It just dragged on too long on the show.
Godric is a tough one. I loved him in the show and the book, but the book edges the show out.
Alexander Skarsgard wouldn't have been my first pic for Eric, but as you might have noticed, he certainly has grown on me.
I've been trying to give AB the benefit of the doubt regarding Eric's overall character. I really luuuuuurve Eric in the books, so I've not been thrilled with how AB has changed it up.
Can't wait for tonight!!
