.org, I need your help. I need shade on my terrace! Don't think I wanna go umbrella, 'cause that would require adjusting as the sun moves.
I ideally, I think I just wanna flop down on an air mattress or the like and not have to worry about falling asleep.
Solutions? I know there are some creative minds and/or outdoorsy-type-people here, so I figured one of you mofos would be able to help me enjoy the summer in The Most Awesome Manner Ever.
NB: I need your shade solutions here, so please no replies saying shit like, "Put on some sunscreen", thanks.

There are companies that make retractable awnings. Would that work?

Bigger than a breadbox?
I think it's about 14' by 7'.

Thanks, man! Ideally, I wanted to try something super-cheap and/or jury-rigged first.

You could just buy one of those collapsible canopys for less than $100. Only thing is I'm not sure they make 'em less than about 10 feet in width/length.

I'll check it out! Do you know who sells 'em?

You should just be able to go to Wal Mart or K-Mart or another discount store to pick one up. They may have a little nicer ones at say Lowe's or Home Depot, or definitely at just about any sporting goods/camping supply store.
