LET'S DO IT AGAIN VS. UPTOWN SATURDAY NIGHT Which was better? I can't decide. Uptown Saturday Night has the badass hustlers Geechie Dan Buford and Silky Slim played by none other than Harry Belafonte and Calvin Lockhart. Then we see Calvin again in Let's Do It Again and he's still a hustler only this time he's paired up against the magnificent John Amos playing Kansas City Mack. Lawd I love these characters. So which was the better story line with the badder gangsters? Uptown did have Leggy Peggy and Little Seymore. This is a tough one.

lets do it again was good. hell curtis mayfield did the music. but i gotta give it to uptown saturday night. little syemore pettigrew, sharp eye washingtonleggy peggy, flip wilson, richard pryor. they both had great lines "hows his love life, hows his love life. hes got his hands full" "damnit man we trusted you, why you steal from us. why not you brother" cause you see mack if we lose we pay but if we win we don't wanna have to be chasing yall all over new orleans ya dig" "yo mama so ugly til its against the law in three states to marry her" "agitate the gravel, and take this lame with you. we got the money chump. well get down." "he's gonna beet ya brains in bootney" "we find them and we kill em" "will you tell this child to get this gun out my face before i make her eat it" "hey i'm talking to you man, say im talking to you sissy. you knock a chump out and you get some respect, now bring on little seymore" I know i'm a loser. two of my favorite movies

Not for me - Uptown Saturday Night wins. 'Leggy' Peggy, 'Geechie' Dan and The Reverend do it for me. Don't forget Richard Pryor as 'Sharp-Eye' Washington.
But got damn, Denise Nicholas was fine back in the day.

This inspired me to add a Camp Lo station to my Pandora radio account. I preferred their Uptown Saturday Night album I guess, but not by as wide a margin as most seem to. Haven't seen these movies.

Out of the two, I'm gonna go with "Uptown Saturday Night." That's some funny movie, with all the right actors.
"Let's Do It Again" is hilarious too, but the ONE thing I don't understand about it was how Calvin Lockhart came back as Biggie Smalls and not his previous character Silky Slim. That just doesn't make any sense to me. Other than that, it's still a great movie.
I love watching both films back to back. I even watch "A Piece of Action" after those two sometimes, even though that Poitier/Cosby film is not part of the series, lol. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

I need to watch them both again to give a fair vote "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Both are great. Hell, that's a hard decision. I have "Uptown Saturday Night" on a DVD that I recorded when it aired on TV so I've seen it several times. I haven't seen "Let's Do It Again" in years though but I remember liking it better. Isn't that the one where Jimmy Walker is a boxer? Andy is a four letter word.
