Although the season is still unfolding, the real drama is just starting – and it’s taking place off-camera, in…get ready for the shocker…debtor’s court. According to a report in the New York Post, Teresa and her husband, Joe, aren’t just broke. They owe $11 million. That’s not a typo. They owe $11 million! The Giudices “are up to their tanned necks in liens, foreclosures and unpaid bills, according to bankruptcy papers filed in Newark federal court,” said the Post. . How bad is it? Foreclosure proceedings have reportedly begun on their $1.8 million Towaco, N.J. mansion, which, at nearly 11,000 sq. feet, includes 8 bedrooms, 5-1/2 bathrooms. The Giudices have already lost two other homes, one at the Jersey Shore and the other in Lincoln Park, and papers filed in federal court indicate they have taken out a total of seven mortgages on both homes, oweing nearly $1 million. They also defaulted on payments for their black Cadillac Escalade. It gets worse. The housewife with a penchant for designer labels owes more than $20,000 on credit cards to Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, per court documents. Her “successful businessman” husband has more than $5 million in debts to former business partners, according to the Post’s report. Despite their ostentatious lifestyle, the couple also revealed in court papers that their yearly income is $79,000, far less than necessary for all their expenditures – she makes $3,300 a month from her Bravo series and he makes $3,250 from his stone and stucco business. They also get another $10,000 in “monthly assistance from family members.” For the Giudices, it appears the reality check has arrived.
