What router do you recommend? Wanna replace my current home one (WiFi, of course).
Suggestions? | |

We had a Linksys router with a Vonage adapter build in. It worked pretty well.
Tnen we got a Netgear 802.11 N router. It's faster, but the problem showed itself to be an issue with Macs. My roommate, who has a Macbook, had ridiculous problems trying to connect to it. Same with the iPod Touch. (My Mac is connected directly to any router w/ a LAN cable.) My PC laptops never had issues with either.
We recently found a Linksys router (with two antenna on it), and replaced the Netgear. We've yet to have a problem. (As a sidenote: We paid $5 for this router at a garage sale - DEAL!)
I always though I'd like Netgear stuff more, but Linksys has ended up working a lot better for us over time. We had the Linksys Vonage router for about five years, and the Netgear just over a year until this past weekend. Netgear probably makes good product, but it's the Mac issue - and it's a known issue between both companies, and neither seem to be doing a lot about it.

Thanks, Ernest. My laptop's a PC, but I have an iPhone, so I'll think twice about a Netgear.

Jers!
Thanks, but Ernest says (above) that a Netgear's gonna, like, totally suck donkey dicks when it comes to my iPhone?

well, he said with Macs. I'm betting the iPhone will play nice, there are a lot of people that have them and use PC's, not Macs.
Either way, an improved modem, router and internet speed will show you marked speed improvements Ace.

I also mentioned an iPod Touch having the same issues. The iPod is synced to a Mac; not sure if that makes a difference or not. I tend to believe it's the iPod in general.

One solution that I have found, when using it with Mac's, is putting the "$" symbol before your network password. This was a problem for me, when I first got my NetGear router. This seemed to clear it up, right away. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I have an AirPort Express. Works great with my Mac and equally great with my sweetie's PC. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
