Apparently, Jeremy Renner is going to play Hawkeye in the Avengers movie. I'm liking that a lot.

Yeah. I just caught that too. I can't wait to see how they fix him up. I REALLY want to see Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

They could use a couple female characters in there (but not that dreadful Scarlett Johansen--ick). I'd love to see Wasp. I'm not so sure about Scarlet Witch, though, for a couple reasons. One, her power doesn't really translate visually well to the big screen (but I guess they could find a way around that). And two, when they cast American actors of extremely limited range and talent (like Halle Barry) and make them speak in foreign accents, the result is always terrible. If they make Scarlet Witch an American, I'd be fine with that. biggrin

You can't have the Scalet Witch without her brother.

I guess. But then you're just getting way too many characters jammed into one movie. I say skip Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

I like the Captain America costume better with each time I see it, but I just don't get a "W.W. II" vibe from it.

shrug

The Thor costume is horrible. I hope they refine it before filming.

I want to see how they do the Wasp without making her look like a "Goth" Tinkerbell.

Thank God they didn't do the "all black in leather outfit to modernize them" shit they've done in the past with other superhero movies

Exactly... a la X Men.

I beg to differ.

The bright spandex that works in a comic panel would just make the actors look like jackasses on the big screen. Adjustments to costume design -sometimes even drastic ones -have to be made sometimes.

Would you be able to take Wolverine seriously if they'd actually stuck Hugh Jackman in the yellow and blue? (or brown and orange?)

See my reply #14. I thought the X costume reworkings were smart.

I just think it'd be unimaginative to see every subsequent comic film resort to the same black leather covert operative look.

Yeah, the shouldn't all do that and I'm glad that most have avoided that so far. Darker, toned down versions of the classic colours and a more armour-based suit would work best for most.

For the record, I am also against built-in muscle definition. That's just silly.

Oh man, I know. Like the scene in "Batman and Robin" when they're suiting up, and the camera gets closeups of their ass and nipples falloff

You can thank The-Ass-Known-As-Joel-Schumacher for that garbage. He nearly killed the franchise.

I'm inclined to be a little more forgiving. I honestly believe his movies were supposed to be send ups of the Adam West '60's series but were marketed wrong.

I mean who casts Clooney as Batman unless they're making a deliberate attempt at straightfaced silliness?

No, but it's a clever way of integrating the red & white stripes on his original uniform into a "real" costume.

That's because of technology. You couldn't do these types of movies the right way back in the 70s. I know Superman was made in '78, but the effects are really dated.

I was watching the first "Jurassic Park" movie this weekend, and even though I was amazed by the special effects back then, I could notice how "messy" some of the digital scenes appeared when you compare them to "Avatar" for example.

I'll say it now. I think CGI sucks. I hate the way it looks in films.

Even Spider-Man. There are so many times where it's just painfully obvious that you're watching a badly proportioned cartoon onscreen rather than a person.

I'm excited beyond belief at the upcoming Green Lantern movie, but I really worry that the CGI is going to sully it.

Well you know there is going to be alot of CGI in the Green Lantern movie mostly because of the power ring.

Can you imagine a real live man in yellow spandex being at all intimidating? It just would not work.
