Janet Jackson "I'm at a loss for words upon learning of Gary Coleman's passing. I want to remember him as the fun, playful, adorable and affectionate man he was. He has left a lasting legacy. I know he is finally at peace".

I was a huge fan of Gary Coleman & Different Strokes. I actually saw Gary a few years ago at a bank here in Cali. I didn't bother him because he look like he didn't want to be bothered. i remember he didn't look healthy to me. We just happen to be parked right next to each other. Gary was very bitter because of his parents spending all his money up and he blamed the world for it. I felt sorry for him. He was very unhappy and people picked on him. Your in a better place now. R.I.P GARY COLEMAN.

sad Different Strokes was definitely a daily show in reruns back in the day. I felt so bad for him when I saw an interview recently where he got so mad and up and left the interview. I can't remember what it was about but he was pissed! I remember thinking at the time that he was the type that would commit suicide eventually. I was wrong. It's so sad....

It's sad that his life became somewhat of a punchline in the media, but I had forgotten about how ill he was to begin with. I wasn't aware that he had been on dialysis and had received kidney transplants in the past few years, so if he had some issues with fans heckling him, I can understand why. Even so, it appears that a lot of people were fond of him from his child star days, and he left us some great memories from Diff'rent Strokes. RIP.

Gary has had a rough life between his health and family. Sure he ended up bitter and angry alot, but we don't know it all. Once I heard this morning he was in a coma, I figured his time was near. Another Gen X icon is gone...RIP.

Gary Coleman had many close calls before because of his kidney condition. I am actually not surprised he died, his life expectancy was not long at all. Still its so sad to hear of his passing.

He was very sick most of the times during Different Strokes. He has publicly said he could have did without the last five years of that show. Very sad

There is something eerie about watching child actors/stars who have died. I tried watching a clip of Different Strokes on youtube and seeing Gary Coleman so young and full of life makes it even sadder.
He was never going to live long with his kidney problems and other issues but it still so sad. It's like everyone from my childhood is being wiped away.

sigh Please do not compare the two's passing by saying one is sadder than the other. I'm still trying to recover myself from MJ leaving us. Both deaths are tragic and they both will be missed...pray God bless them both...

I can't believe this. I just saw Gary on the insider and he told Lisa Bloom to go fuck herself (and basically the whole show also). I was like omg what happened? I loved Gary Coleman. Only the good die young!

There was such pain behind his eyes.
Gary seemed combative and bitter over his health issues, financial struggles and stalled career. I wish he had lived a better life and I'm touched by his passing.

Sorry, just how I feel it. Had a real nostalgia trip this morning watching clips of Different Strokes, hearing the theme tune again, it's like a dusty box from my childhood has been opened. The show was something of a curse for those kids. They all ended up having fucked-up lives.
