i doubt i have anything more profound to say than they do.
the show was fun, but at this point it's getting desperate.
my main opinion is this: i hope most women like this stuff because it's escapist fun, not because they aspire to vapidity, mindless consumerism, and a pathological fear of getting old.
of course, modern reality TV suggests otherwise... everyone's a fruit & nut case |

I did enjoy watching the series from time to time. 30 minutes per episode; short enough for this Carrie character not to get on my last nerve.
I tried watching the movie when on a plane and after 30 minutes, whilst already being completely bored and bothered, I switched it to the map. Way more interesting. God what a load of bullocks that was. So nope, not going to watch that second movie. I'd rather eat my own foot |

I haven't seen the movie and have no interest in it. Never saw the first and barely watched the series. However, I started a thread (that was locked...by the man) about this movie looking a WHOLE lot like the Morocco episode of "Absolutely Fabulous". Has anybody seen both and do you agree. |

There ARE alot of common threads between the two, but there's alot the Ab Fab folks can accomplish that the SATC gang just can't because the style of humour is different, and the satirical fun it pokes at itself is so much more delicious than the takemyselftooseriouly self-absorption we often get out of Carrie and the other girls...
...by the way,I don't think they should have locked your thread. Although the premise was based on a comparison to the new SATC 2 movie, the thread was totally veering off into a tribute direction for Ab Fab...after I re-watched that Morocco clip I got all jazzed up watching old episodes of Eddie and Patsy acting a damned fool [Edited 5/30/10 1:38am] |

Let me start with "I'm not sure if I love the new style of the Org...." Just might take some getting used to.
Anyhow, glad you got your Ab Fab on. Once I get my VCR connected with my TV again, I'll be watching the first three series again. |

What a disaster...watch the trailer and you've seen it. It's really sad they destroy the serie.
The only thing i enjoyed was a guy's ass at the end...that was it.... |

They All promised they wouldn't accept nor participate in any films that didn't measure up to SATC series. Money is the root of all evil.

That's another reason I'm disappointed. I don't understand how they could watch either of these movies in good conscience, after developing and playing these roles for six years. It's like they hacked 'em to pieces with a machete. |

Plus the gratuitous product placement far surpassed the whoring in the first film. Most of the Abu Dhabi trip was a glorified commercial for the hotel they stayed in, which I believe opened recently IRL cuz I just read an article about it last week. |

Damn, the thrill is gone for me then, big time. You know I was going to go see this tomorrow but now I'mma wait!
I'm curious about the behind the scenes dealing for the location, though...like the hotel
I think it opened recently due to renovation, but it's a long standing fave for the Italians and the French... those La Mamounia people play the game like that; they're basically a standby "film your project here" location since the art deco period. A lot of international projects have filmed there for maybe 60-70 years. I was thinking about how cheap it is to film in Morrocco...but I wonder just exaccccctly how much these Mamounia people milk productions for location fees? . I guess now with product placement being what it is in media they might have slacked off a bit knowing how far reaching the SATC movie is,or....? I still imagine it would have been a bargain compared to shooting in the actual UAE; the latter location just requires a level of money and spending that's just beyond...just beyond |

Naw, girl, go on and see it cuz I'd be interested on your take of this "film." When they arrived at the hotel they spent what felt like 10 minutes being shown the joint by their butler. So it was nothing but ooohs and ahhhs from them the whole time. Nothing plot related, wait, there was NO plot.
It was very obvious that they must've gotten free room and board from them to justify how long they focused on the property. |

Blondie is one of those acts that should just never be covered, especially such an iconic song like "Rapture". She's like Janis Joplin. No one will EVER do her or her music justice by covering it, especially someone like Alicia Frakin' Keys. |
