And Britney's Slave 4 U should make a Prince fan's heart throb. quote] agreed.that's a great song. radio in general sucks though.someone at work always says "it's a little quiet in here, i'll put the radio on" I get murderous thoughts it's that bad. Why do people in general only like current chart music? I'm looked at like i'm insane when i say what music i like.some people don't even know what 'Funk' is.

Oh, I guess so. Most of today's pop music does not appeal to me at all, and while it could just simply mean that I'm getting older, I suspect that the quality really has gone downhill.
These days I'm mostly listening to electronic dance music--especially house--and even then, I'm picky. I enjoy deep/disco/jazzy house (throw in a piano, flute, horn, keyboard, or mallet instrument solo and you've got me), but some other styles of house don't do much for me. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

creamychemist said: I've been called a music snob more than once. I think its because I can't stand to listen to the radio for more than about 17 seconds. IMHO 99.9% of its all crap (at least where I live) - I think many people would agree with me here. I will even admit to looking down on people who listen to shit like Brittney Spears. Its pathetic. It annoys me. So is this such a bad thing? Any other music snobs out there?
Well, i DO know what i like. I loved music since i was born. i have been told by many that i have a qood "good ear" 4 really "cool" stuff. (like prince...) i can agree. i usually know whats rocks, whats tight, off key, what will go places & flop. of course i dont listen to much radio either any more but what i hear is usually assaulting to my senses. the new rappers have nothing on herbie hancock nor tone loc, or LL cool J... Spears, Aquillera, many more R going on looks, youth & not talent. alicia keyes is growing on me. of course "country" music CANNOT be labeled "cool". i do like to listen 2 the "oldies" stations here & there. the late 60's & 70's still rock my world. always a pleasure to listen to most of those legendary tunes by many greats like J Brown, temptations, 4 tops, otis redding, boz scaggs, ray charles, the doors, led zepplin, john mayall, peter frampton, rita coolidge, beatles, JIMI HENDRIX, (the rock star!) don henley, genessis, phil collins, hall & oates, righteous bros, joe cocker!, aretha franklin, the time!, madonna, the eagles, pink floyd, short stuff (local), stevie nicks! carly simon, barbra streisand, celine dion, rod stewart!, the police, BB King, on & on...some R from the 80's. prince, being # 1 4 me, of course! never get tired of him. the best & always getting better. May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love.
