I watched a 1962 Hitler. The acting was a bit over the top. It wasn't the best biopic I've seen on Hitler.

Tonight I'm watching The Red Violin (1998) with Samuel Jackson.

Later this week, Gilda, and Citizen Kane. Just finished Adaptation the other day.

Also watched Daybreakers (not old of course), and am due to watch Legion.

Okay, I'm hoping for a little help on this one. johnart and I have had our own little, "Oh, my gawd - that movie's so faaaaabulous" club going for quite a while now. So I thought I should get out the purse and spill the contents.

Here we go, in no particular order:

Imitation of Life - both the 1934 version (Claudette Colbert) and the Douglas Sirk from the 50s.

Pretty much anything by Douglas Sirk, actually - The aforementioned Imitation of Life, plus Magnificent Obsession and All That Heaven Allows, for starters. (Rock Hudson - need I say more?) All That Heaven Allows is the movie that Far From Heaven (Julianne Moore) is based on.

Elizabeth Taylor films - Butterfield 8, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and The Last Time I Saw Paris. Suddenly Last Summer and A Place in the Sun (both with Montgomery Clift).

Bringing Up Baby. Cary Grant in a maribou-trimmed peignoir, yelling, "I just suddenly went GAY all of a sudden."

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane - Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Ask johnart about this one - it's one of his faves.

Grey Gardens - the documentary. Although the HBO movie is pretty fab, too.

That's just a start. Feel free to add - but remember, we're talking classic films. And there must be an element of fab.

Anyone who has an appreciation for film should know these movies. You don't have to be gay. Most of the people who took part in bringing these stories to life weren't even gay.

It should be mandatory that people watch, at least once, the following (in addition to what you posted Genesia):

Mildred Pierce
Some Like It Hot
A Raisen In the Sun
Quo Vadis
Cleopatra
Gone With The Wind
Red Dust
Curly Top
The Women
Cabin In The Sky
Anything with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers but specifically The Gay Divorce and Swing Time

Yes, I realize all that. You obviously didn't catch the tongue-in-cheek character of the thread.

William and Myrna's chemistry couldn't be contained with all the bottles in the world, I also love their OTHER movies together like the ones in this box set..

it also was what made me fall in love wih jackie hoffman. i made her laugh once. we were standing outside the upright citizen's brigade theatre and she walked by, and i said to my friend ryan "OH MY GOD, THAT'S THAT WOMAN I LOVE!"

best gay romantic comedy ever, with big eden a close second.
