Local Haunts A friend's mom posted on Facebook about going to Los Tacos in Oklahoma City. There are only one or two of them. It's a cheap, local taco place that is just off the hook. There's also a long standing place called Del Rancho that has the best chicken fried steak sandwiches in the WORLD. I miss both of them.
I loved Sonic as a kid, but the closest is 50 miles from here. I know they're more national, but Sonic and A&W and Dairy Queen are "home" for me. DQ's are just ice cream places in a mall now. Locally here in Albany is Ted's Fish Fry that is the best fried fish around. Also Gene's Fish Fry is just as good. What are some of your local eatery haunts that are exclusive to your area? (This all reminds me of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on Food Network.)

I love pulled pork sandwhiches with the sauce and cole slaw on top. The Wendys in NC actually have a Carolina Classic burger, which is burger, cheese, chilli, and slaw. We love the slaw! As in most places in Thailand, there are probably well over 50 restaurants within a 2km radius of where we are, none of them chains. I don't remember most of the names and just refer to them as 'the som tam place' or 'yum tuna place'
I really like one restaurant called 'Seua Rong Hai' (Crying Tiger - actually named after a particular dish). They do very good som tam (spicy papaya salad), nam tok (minced pork salad), and really good soups like tom yam, tom khaa kai and tom saep. You can get 4 or 5 dishes plus drinks for about $15. If I'm craving western food then I like Mulligans in Khao San Road. Even had Christmas dinner there last year, which was nice. Roadhouse BBQ on Rama IV is good too, though very pricey by Thailand standards! If I crave something western I do like a nice air-conditioned sports bar, grillhouse or Irish themed pub. Most of the time I eat in small local restaurants though. . [Edited 4/16/10 18:51pm] MY COUSIN WORKS IN A PHARMACY AND SHE SAID THEY ENEMA'D PRANCE INTO OBLIVION WITH FENTONILS!!

I don't know the name of the place.
And the name is actually written in Chinese, so I can't even read it and sound out the name. The food is pretty good, I guess. I go there when I'm in the mood to lust after this one Chinese dude there. I want to fuck him so hard sometimes. Other than that, I prefer local Thai places here because they're cheaper than the commercial places. I'm fortunate because I never much cared for western food, which is quite expensive here. Bottom line: Who gives a fuck what the food tastes like when the person serving it to you has a tight ass.

As far as local haunts, we have Lizard's Thicket around here. Southern cooking--meats and veggies. A new one opened about six months ago a mile down the road from my house. It seems to have better quality food than many of the others around town. Another is Zesto. Absolutely awesome fried chicken.
