Useful Free Applications

I found an MP3 normalizer which works!

Its shitty, when you're doing a compilation and songs jar with each other because they're too loud or too quiet. I've used normalizers in the past but they re-sampled the track and boosted the signal and made it sound distorted. This one simply turns up (or down) the tracks' volume.

It's fantastic!

Does anybody else have any useful downloads?

why not use an audio editor? it'll also help you fix the fades, and maximize the volume, instead of normalizing it. which is much better.

Yeah - I use Goldwave for fades and recording.

This is just a quick option for tweaking an mp3's volume, nothing more or less.

I find that maximisation can sound a little brutal though, especially if the source was very, very quiet.

Maximizing wis the only way to balance the volumes between tracks, normalizing won't do it.
Normalizing just takes the peak level and raises the volume accordingly

Very handy! Sick of the fact that all my MP3s are at different volumes smile

Now...is there a useful free pop-up blocker? I really don't wanna pay $30 for one lousy feature.

???

Mozilla is an open source project... recent versions of Netscape are based on stable release builds of Mozilla but Mozilla is a really good browser. I recommend giving it a try. It's free, what have you got to lose!

Well, here at work we test our site on various browsers and Mozilla is always fucking us up...I'm kinda turned-off by it. Not knocking it, really, just afraid...

Isn't it interesting that Apple's new browser is based on KHTML and not Mozilla?

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

It's based on Konqueror I thought (the KDE browser?). Ah well. Very very bad idea in my opinion. Mozilla is actually very good for adherance to standards etc, and it's pretty fast. The mail client is OK too.
