Same. I've tried a couple times and just can't. Kubrick and Robert Altman fall into the same category for me. One film, I'm all and then I see the next one and it's We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Some of Altman's stuff bores me to tears. Have you ever tried to sit through Dr. T and the Women? Lord have mercy. And I could never finish Shortcuts either.

No. But I went to Pret a Porter on New Year's Eve one year - after a bottle of wine. I love anything fashion related, but I couldn't make heads or tails out of that picture. Some years later, I watched it again on video - and realized there was nothing to "get." It was just a bad film. Gosford Park, on the other hand... We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

And everyone always mentions M*A*S*H (which I have to admit I've never seen). But that's about it. I totally forgot about Pret a Porter. That's one of the worst films of all time!

He assembled a heckuva cast for it, though! We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

The end of Shortcuts... the earthquake and what happens with Chris Penn... is disturbing. And it has the odd shot of Huey Lewis (full frontal) peeing in a lake. I watched Barry Lyndon recently, and it didn't suck exactly, but I was just thinking "why am I watching this? who fucking cares?" My Legacy

The end is so not worth suffering through that movie for. (I'm just guessing, because I didn't actually make it to the end.) As a fan of full-frontal male nudity, I have to say no way does the Huey Lewis shot qualify. It's way distant and it's a prosthetic. Even more reasons to hate that movie!
