it basically adapts the taste of what you cook/fry it with for example ;you can marinate it in soy sauce and then stir fry it and it tastes nice you're right, bullshit tastes like crap too. It's preferable to tofu though. blah blah blah

Not goin' there. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

What's with all this emphasis on Tofu ? There's more to a Vegetarian diet then just Tofu & Vegeatables. If you wanna try a Vegetarian diet and still miss the taste of meat & dairy, there's plenty of mock meats made from seitan and cheese subsitutes like daiya. [Edited 3/25/10 14:03pm]

[Edited 3/25/10 14:03pm] i always eat seitan/tofu burgers , they're great it's beyond me why those manufactorers think vegetarians would wanna eat something that tastes like meat though . i sure as hell don't had a spring roll the other day with smoked tofu and it tasted like meat i threw it out [Edited 3/25/10 14:29pm]

Enjoy the tofu. if you don't put any herbs or whatsoever in it it's pretty tasteless indeed however when you do , it can be quite nice i find it annoying you say that it's gross because it's simply NOT true [Edited 3/25/10 14:33pm]

Funghi - a major ingredient in many vegitarian dishes - is closer to being an animal than a vegetable... Discuss..? blah blah blah

Some Vegans would never consider eating anything that would remind them of eating meat, and there's others who enjoy eating mock meats in their food, knowing that no animals didn't suffer. I wish more meat eaters would just even try it for even one week and see if they like it or not.

Was this Aimed at me? If so, for me food needs to satisfy 3 major criterior. Texture, flavour and smell. Tofu has none of this for my tastes. I'd rather have a vegetarian meal without it than add something that I dislike in flavour and texture. I've had it cooked many and every time, it has detracted from the meal. Yuck. I'll stick to either meat meals or vegie meals. Sorry tofu, but fuku [Edited 3/25/10 14:49pm] blah blah blah

Doesn't taste at all meat like, but is tasty. Worth trying, just don't go for the 'meaty' products if you wanna stay away from meat-looking products [Edited 3/25/10 14:47pm] blah blah blah

erik!!!
I had soya chilli for dinner tonight - and it was actually nice. If you go to ASDA, they sell it in packets, dehydrated, for 45p, next to the Savoury Rice. You just add a pint of water, boil, and simmer for 15 minutes. You do have to doctor it up, to make it taste better though. I added a vegetable stock cube, a good shake of Soy Sauce, a tablespoon of paprika, a dollop of Chilli Sauce and finally stirred through loads of soya smokey bacon-flavour bits (the kind you put on top of salads). It was really nice and only two grams of fat. I'm on a diet.
