I agree with the people who say it should be equal for both sexes. If a woman can't do it in public then a man shouldn't be able to do it either and vice-versa.

I find it funny that women can't do it because of their breasts because if you think about it, there are a lot of men out there who have bigger tits than a lot of women (think fat men, etc.)

If it's just based on breasts, then why can a fat man walk around shirtless legally but say a flat-chested woman is not allowed to when the man has a bigger chest than the woman...

It doesn't make much sense if you think about it...

No, that's stupid. Sure, some people are obese or funny looking and do look better with clothes on, but I'm pretty sure there isn't any kind of strong argument to be made for legislating aesthetics.

Anyway, there's already too much societal fear and hangups when it comes to the human body and nudity to begin with. Illegalizing shirtlessness would only add to it.

nod In the Okanagan it hits upwards of 40 Celsius (100 Fahrenheit) in the summer. To be honest, unless I had to be at work or was going somewhere nice a bathing suit and sandals was all I ever wore then.

Not clear on the law in AB or in Edmonton, but in Vancouver female toplessness actually is legal. Nobody seems to have the bravery to do it though.

Though, I think it should definitely be legal, I'm certainly a 'time and place' type of person. There's a lot to be said about politeness.

There's a time and place to let loose, let it all hangout, and show the world your booty or bits and pieces...And that time is NOW, and that place is Carriempls's apartment. woot!

If I'm walking down the street and some guy's doing work in his yard with his shirt off, that wouldn't phase me, but I don't want to be seated next to him in a restaurant with his shirt off. And he should put one on if he's walking to the store.

I don't care if that makes me uptight. Time and place.

my mum said she stayed at a nudist camp and there was a convenience store in there. They didn't have to wear pants in there until this one guy leant over the deep freeze confused

What? I can imagine it. There's no doubt it's more socially acceptable for a man to be in public topless than it is for a woman. lol Personally I'm against douchebags walking around with their shirts off but I can't see how it can be argued the situation is the same whether it's a man or woman and that it should be treated as such.

Oh I was referring that everyone should be allowed or not allowed no matter if they are good looking or not lol. Sorry for the confusion.

I personally don't see anything wrong whether it is a man or a woman. And IMO people who do it are not douchebags.

Ah, I getcha. lol Yes, attractiveness shouldn't be a factor, I agree.

Re shirtless douchebags, I wouldn't make it illegal, I would just consider them douchebags or yobs. Not in a busy public street, please.

In front of your house, on the beach, or even on the street it should not be illegal, but I'd call someone an idiot if he took his/her shirt off in the middle of a crowded street. That's just disrespectful.

Yup.

See I'm talking about somewhere like Khao San Road, full of people walking up and down, boiling hot weather, and some bunch of rowdy dudes smelly and sweaty walking down the street shirtless, in a country which is really very conservative when it comes to showing flesh (girls often swim in t-shirt and shorts here).

Sure, I agree Madonna should be illegal!

Co-sign. If you are a 90 year old women with tits to her knees like Donatella Versace then do the damn thang! I am sick of the lack of respect to your fellow man esp. the elderly.
Oh if you are a 400 guy with man tits, I don't care either... just don't smoke near me and my kids and we are OK.

For women: Yes. In public, breasts should be covered. What also should be illegal is too much/lewd cleavage shown on public TV, like during award shows, reality shows, Wendy Williams' show, etc.

For men: Nope. But honestly, the only bare chests I wanna see are those that look like Van Damme's or Michael Jai White's. lol
