It was a f*cking STORM outside!!! [UPDATED w/ pictures] Seriously...this nor'easter that's going over Long Island right now is horrific. I've been living here for over 10 years now, and I don;t think I've EVER felt winds like this! Two trees down the street have fallen over!!!
No joke, it feels like the wind is gonna blow the roof off the house!!! [pics added] The link I also posted from Newsday.com states that a 73 year old woman was crushed by a falling tree. [Edited 3/14/10 20:05pm] By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

I just got home a few minutes ago, and I was drenched. My umbrella couldn't handle the storm; the wind just ripped it up. I love this weather, though.

No joke, it feels like the wind is gonna blow the roof off the house!!! I'm in upstate NY in Albany. It was cold out earlier, and it was cool in the house. It's so dark right now I can't see shit out there. I have no plans of finding out either.

I live in Brooklyn and it is pouring. This morning I had to run into the city and I could not believe the amount of wind and rain there was. On top of that, some of the trains were being detoured and I got on the wrong train....Ended up in Queens instead of Brooklyn....When I got home, I was trenched!! "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Join the crowd. Queens was pummeled with rain and wind. I couldn't even hold up my umbrella. I went to the supermarket thinking not too many people would be there, and lo and behold, you would have thought they were giving away free groceries..it was crowded. I then decided to cancel my plans today and just stay home and relax. At least it's not snowing, thank goodness. I think NY had enough of that this year.
Yesterday I bought one of those so-called wind resistant umbrella, but the darn wind kept turning the umbrella upside. I gave up, and just put the hood of my coat over my head. [Edited 3/13/10 17:27pm]

It was crazy here.
I lost part of my fence and some of my roof shingles. We drove around the neighborhood earlier today and there were dozens or trees fallen all over the place! Whew, that's some scary stuff. Your neighborhood looks very nice though. Shame to see so many stately trees fallen.
South Fla. is sunny with temps in the high 60- low 70s. This is the time of year when living in Fla is great! Of course when hurricane season comes we pray a lot. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

The section of fence in my backyard that fell did so because the posts holding it up were anchored in MUD. However, Saturday evening a friend was walking up to my front door...he's a big guy (over 6' tall and about 230 lbs) ...and a gust of wind nealry knocked him over!!! Yeah it is a damn shame...some of those trees were very old and majestic, which is not common for the south shore of Long Island. Funny that you should mention...my wife keeps saying that she wants to leave because if we get hit by a strong hurricane (which hasn't happened since 1932) our house would basically be washed out to sea. ...and where does she want to go?
