Among my lifelong crew of friends, I know I'm chalked up as the "serial killer" of the bunch -- slouching toward intellectual; cultured; quiet, but charming when made to engage; ostensibly straight-laced; way too nice, but oddly irritable on occasion... and with some stuff going on below the surface that folk both want and don't want to explore. hmm

I'm aware I make my friends nervous, but I'm the consistent go-to guy whenever someone gets themselves into any kind of squeeze. Folk appreciate low-level craziness when it can save their butts. lol

Oh, snap! This was the picture on one of my friend's birthday card. On the outside it said, "We've been friends for years and I will love you til the end..." and on the inside it said, "But damn, bitch! You forgot the rollin papers again!"

Mm. . . the intimate, in-time-of-need type. I'm a good listener and hand-holder. I'm forever if you want me to be and treat me kindly; I have a smallish group of friends who I've mostly known for a loooong time. I still regularly see my best friend from elementary school, and several others from high school.

I like random wacky adventures, road trips, and being one of the guys. My friends' parents usually like me.

I flake on big social gatherings a lot, and I don't do well with people who won't put in effort to stay in touch, because I'm a loner and don't tend to seek people out. I'm not a good drinking buddy; I get emo and/or disappear. I'm never, EVER happy to see ANYbody who shows up unexpectedly at my door, and I don't like talking on the phone for similar reasons. I expect punctuality from people as a sign of respect. I don't buy people things to show affection. I'm independent, I don't need much from people, and it can be hard to take care of me even when I do need it. I'm awkward about receiving gifts.

It often takes no time for people to feel like I know them (I'm one of those people you'll find yourself telling your secrets to for no apparent reason 5 minutes after you meet me), but it can take an eternity for people to feel like they really know me.

What are you like as a friend? What is your place in the dynamics of your group of friends?

If you need me for something that's important to you, I'll be there. I've come to loathe groups, though, so you'll be hard-pressed to get me to socialize in a non-one-to-one situation. And, if we must go out, please make it in the downtown core (preferably within walking distance of my apartment smile).

I am a loyal and dependable friend, but a cranky one. lol

Yes! That's me too. nod
