The only thing that could have made this movie better is if the White Queen was cast as a woman of color.

Makes me wonder, did anyone consult Lady GaGa before costumes and makeup?

cborgman said: i wanted to like it. i wish they had just made the original book instead of making a quasi-sequel, especially because there has not been a really good movie adaptation of the book. oddly, some of the numerous tv versions have been closest. the 50s disney one really didnt do it for me. I've always found the story sinister and creepy. Never liked it as a kid. Since then I've seen a few things on Lewis Caroll and they really haven't helped me appreciate it any more... Creepy man. blah blah blah

Saw it yesterday, LOVED IT! True it wasn't the best script or storyline but it was visually stunning. That, said it had it's ups and downs...
Loved the Hatter (best.look.ever.) but did not like the brogue/lisped accent... that was meh. Red Queen, GREAT!! "I need a pig!" White Queen, hilarious!! (Alej, if you do go flitting about school that way, do take pics ) what had me completely hooked and what I LOVED the most about this film was without question, the Cheshire Cat. He was just.too.cool. I do wish they'd kept him purple though... A working class Hero is something to be ~ Lennon

He could be any color though really. The original illustrartions were in B&W so I guess I didn't picture him purple. I went to the pre-premiere where you had to come in costume, and this guy won the costume contest:

I just don't understand why they couldn't speak with proper American accents. It would have made the movie so much better. Who's with me on this?

Honestly, this was one of my least fave Burton films. (For the record, Burton is one of my fave directors...alongside Julie Taymor). Especially after Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Sweeney Todd, both of which were spot on perfection...this one was slightly disappointing. What I liked: the animated characters, esp. the cheshire cat and the march hare. LOVED the march hare, actually.... my least favorite part, actually, had to be the hatter. Not johnny's best work, and just felt out of sorts with the rest of the film. Maybe second viewing will enhance my thoughts on it (I'll still def. purchase it...) but I just left feeling it could have been better...
=0P Brace yourself

Braved the monsoon this weekend and saw the movie in IMAX 3D on Saturday. It was okay. Looked great, but despite that, I didn't get the feeling of amazement that I did from many of Tim Burton's other films. I most likely won't buy it when it's released on disc.

I didn't read any of the posts here becauuuuuse...:
Christopher Adams is ecstatic about how he's gonna see Alice in Wonderland - 3D... ...in the eternal words of Homer...."Woo-hoo!" (lifted from facebook) to K....thanx 4 going w/ me. I don't see this date ending badly. She got me a tongue ring that reads " sexy" on the top sphere. To the ladies: is there an implication behind buying yor man a tongue stud...and in the implication exponential when the stud reads, "sxy." [Edited 4/11/10 3:37am]
