Some of the greatest chefs and wine experts come from the USA, America has some great products and produce if you´re willing to look for them, some great wines and cheeses and local stuff and don´t forget folks like Antony Bourdain who focuses on local specialties in his show No Reservations.
People are becoming more and more obese all over the world, not just in the USA, as you also mentioned above. Folks like Desiree2006 should get their greencard revoked for not liking American food. Or for using too many exclamation marks, or CAPS LOCK, or not looking hard enough for decent food and bashing America without really "getting" America and its cuisine.
There are so many American chefs there who take eating to the next level, and here we are discussing shit like "I Can´t Believe It´s Not Butter".
