It helps. You may want to try a different razor too.

Use powder to prevent razor bump BEFORE they appear.

Only makes it worse, especially when your skin is sensitive.

Just try a soft after-shave and a moisturising skin cream. That should do it.

Or simply buy a different razor or go for an electric one.

Whatever may help your skin depends on your skin type - you have to find out yourself by trying out different after-shaves and all that. But keep away from toothpaste and shit like that!

Shave as soon as you step out of the shower. That worked for me!

Find out if there's an Art of Shaving store in your city. If there is, call and ask if they have a black barber experienced in dealing with folliculitis that can give you a consultation
http://www.theartofshaving.com/

You can also buy their products at Saks, Neimans, and Sephora

Razor bumps or ingrown hairs? Sometimes they look the same...
If it's the latter, find a chemical exfoliant product containing salicylic acid which will (gently) dissolve the top layer of skin to help release a bit of the hair shaft. If you can see the hair 'loop' above the skin get some good, CLEAN tweezers and flick the hair back out - do NOT pluck it out!
Razor burn, on the other hand, is most likely due to too much blade drag / resistance or bacteria being spread while shaving. Go for more lubrication - invest in a pre-shave oil to go underneath your usual soap / gel. It's usually a case of trial and error, but stick with the shaving product that offers the most glide. I know it can get expensive, but bin your old blades once the lubrication strip starts to fade as old blades will inevitably have more bacteria festering away on them. THey'll also be more blunt and will drag on the skin. Expect to be able to get a good three shaves out of each blade, depending on the coarseness of your beard.
In my case, I use an oil. I'd also recommend exfoliating before you shave, in order to prep your beard and prevent any of these problems!
Hope that helps!

You know what? I was actually thinking that. I do need to go see one, because nothing I've done has work, and I know I'm not doing the safest/medically sound thing to get rid of them.

nod Even without the keloid potential he may need a dermatologist to resolve razor bumps. My best friend FINALLY went to one recently after decades of dealing with them. He had to get prescription medication for them but it cleared up nicely.

there's a very simple solution.
STOP shaving against the grain.
in other words, just shave down your face.
DO NOT shave "up".
you'll still have a "clean" shaven face for the most part,
but leave enough of a hair shaft above the skin line where you won't get bumps.

That was going to be my recommendation as well. I bought the Ingrown Hair sample kit as a gift for someone; they love it!
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.
