Find out if there's an Art of Shaving store in your city. If there is, call and ask if they have a black barber experienced in dealing with folliculitis that can give you a consultation
http://www.theartofshaving.com/

You can also buy their products at Saks, Neimans, and Sephora

Okay...
What can cheap people do?

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

That's it right there! My sweetie uses Art of Shaving. He swears by the alum block for bumps and was told by the owner of the company that the lavender line of products was developed especially for men of color. nod

Art of Shaving is also available online and at Nordstrom.

nd

don't they have some shave gel called "bump be gone" or "bump no more" or "no more bump" or somethin' like that. It's a gel and has little moisturizing beads in it and comes in a 6 oz tube. I think it's meant for males and females. I know I've seen it before at the walmart. Not that I shop there or nothin....I was just passing through.

lol SCNDLS has spoken but he don't wanna listen. Art of Shaving is the bizness, I know this and I'm a girl. I often get gift cards to the salon for the men in my life. But when it comes to my face and any issues I'll spend the money on anything that works . . . gladly.

ThreadBare

Here's cheap: Use Gilette Mach 3 Turbo blades, shave in the direction of your hair and keep those bump areas really clean.

To that last point, as part of your hygiene regimen, try using an acti-bacterial soap and a shower brush (particularly helpful after shaving)

Heavily lather the brush, briskly scrub the bump-prone areas and let the lather settle in for a few minutes. Then rinse. Works like a charm.

You may have Psuedo Folliculitus Barbae (spelling?). You should check with a dermatologist.

The rugrat came out in a massive rash, i mean nasty, all over his chest as a toddler, the ER said it was Folliculitus...i thought at the time they made it up lol

what are you using to shave? if it's a razor then....BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I have extra sensitive skin so I use clippers

then I clean my face with alcohol afterwards

Wow, I do and use the exact same thing.. Clippers and then alcohol.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

I don't get it bad but I get the occasional bump after shaving, especially with an electric razor that doesn't exfoliate like a blade does.

So it helps a lot to exfoliate my face right after using the electric, or to just use the blade.
