Vegas!

Ok people, Im heading to Vegas for the first time and would love it if any of you who have been could give me your recommendations on which hotel to stay at and what you think are must do activities or things to see. Not really into any canyon tours the first time there tho. Thank you in advance for any input you can give biggrin

Depends on your budget.... smile

If money is no object, I would say:

Wynn
Bellagio
Caesars Palace

Some of the hotels have great pool areas behind them, some are great for relaxing by the pool if that's your thing. I would definitely catch a show or 2 while you are there. Also, take a walk up and down the strip. Mandalay Bay has a great restaurant on the top level...

If you want to see the Grand Canyon but don't want to do hiking or long drives, you can get a helicopter ride over the grand canyon, I totally recommend it. Your concierge can book it for you. Car picks you up from your hotel, takes you to the airport, you fly over Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam over and into the grand canyon and they land in it and you get out and stretch your legs, take photos and have champagne breakfast and then you fly back to Vegas and then you get a fly over the strip and then back to your hotel. Its a great way to see it quickly and the view is spectacular.

There's a lot to see and do in Vegas depending on what you are into. Gambling, shopping, entertainment (G and X rated) and much more... Its also interesting to go check out the old strip where the rat pack and elvis used to play... The stratosphere tower also is a great view and there's roller coasters there and also at New York New York..

If you are lucky you can see a boxing match... Have fun and remember what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas....

stratosphere is budget but still comfy, but right down the end of the strip close to nothing much lol

breakfast in the canyon by helicopter if you have the cash, see the canyon and be back in town 10:30am! no sitting on buses all day dead

Well I will visit Freemont, heard you can't go without seeing it so one afternoon and evening will be spent in old Vegas. Was thinking about catching a show while there, maybe The Lion King...
Kinda leaning towards a couple of the hotels, MGM Grand, New York New York, Monte Carlo...
Grand Canyon will be saved for a quick weekend getaway trip but Ive heard the helicopter tours are amazing.

New York New York has a fun cocktail bar downstairs. Monte Carlo, I have stayed there. Its an older hotel, like Flamingo but Monte Carlo has a good pool area out the back with a lazy river... biggrin

Yes I read that the Monte Carlo has an "easy river" and a couple other hotels have the "lazy river" Easy sounds more fun! lol

I actually just got back from Vegas, like 12 hours ago. I go out there like once or twice a year.

If you are on a budget, I reccomend The Flamingo to stay. It's the perfect location, in the middle of the strip. You are right across the streat from Bellagio and Caesars and next to Paris and Planet Hollywood. As far as things to see or do, it all depends on your interests. I love to check out the great restaurants. If you like Italian, right down the street from the Flamingo is a great place called Batistas Hole In The Wall. Its been there for ages, and the service and atmosphere is amazing. Very resonably $

NYNY is awesome, never stayed there, but I go there all the time. I stayed at MGM Grand once, and as nice as it is, it is horrible to get to your room. Its an excruciating walk to the room towers from the front enterance. And staff wasnt too friendly.

Most of all, just do whatever you like. Chances are its there. You wont be able to fit it all in in one trip.

Enjoy, its my favorite place to visit!

If you've never been you MAY want to stay in a casino. However, I don't gamble, hate cigarette smoke, hate walking for 10+ minutes thru a smoky, crowded casino to get to my room. If none of this bothers you, The Venetian is a great property, great location and they often have pretty good rates/specials.

However, due to the aforementioned reasons and the fact that I go to Vegas a few times a year and was just there in November, I am officially over casinos and will never stay in another one if I'm paying for it. In November, I stayed at the Trump which will be my new home away from home.

It's an all-suite hotel with a kitchen and the rooms are huge because they were actually designed to be studio, 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. The location is in the middle of the strip, walking distance to the Wynn, Venetian, and other casinos and directly across the street is the entrance to Nordstrom's and Fashion Show Mall. mushy

The rates on the site are pretty low considering how much space and amenities you get, no smoke, no waiting for an elevator, no loud casino, or drunk fools to deal with. BUT I booked thru Travelocity and got air, hotel, and transfers for 3 nights for $580. Then I upgraded to a strip view when I got there for $25/night. They offered an upgrade to a 1 bedroom apt with 2 full baths and a complete kitchen that slept 4 for $50/night.

Nevada has just legalized male prostitution and the first "gigolo" just started work.

PT's heading to Las Vegas and wants to go see "the place" if she "has time."
