Before The Sopranos and The Wire, there was OZ. I always thought those shows were spin-offs or they got their creative swagger from OZ.

Church, for real. I've been saying that for years and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. I remember when The Sopranos first came on it totally took all the attention away from Oz, which IMO was the first show to really go to dark places on Cable TV. I could never get into that show for that reason. That show was the shit, Adebsi gives me nightmares to this day. I ain't never going to prison. When his character was killed, I wasn't even sure if was still going to watch the show. It's a credit to the writers that they were able to keep me interested after that, because he was such a dynamic character. I also like how they really went for it in Season 6 and just killed EVERYBODY, like "Fuck it, we're going off the air anyway!" [Edited 1/26/10 0:43am] Dyes Got the Answers 2 Ur ?s

Forgot about this one. I still have tapes. I also loved OZ, Tales from the Darkside, Night Gallery, and Highlander with Adrian Paul. But only when the blond chick was with him. "Let love be your perfect weapon..." ~~Andy Biersack

Just raced through Seasons 1 & 2 of Dexter, but not sure I can keep it up - too disturbing.
I loved Oz too, but same thing - i think it gave me grown-man nightmares!!!! (it was on here late at night on free to air!). Watched all of Carnivale but found it a bit disappointing. Why are there no votes for flight of the Conchords???!!! (or is that not really a series...?) "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

Not really but you're right, it wasn't cable TV, Tales From The Darkside was one of those shows aired in syndication like Solid Gold and Small Wonder. I used to watch that, plus GLOW Wrestling and Freddy's Nightmares (which took over Tales for a short period), Saturday nights in the 80s.
