What she said.

The nerd side of me can't help but be excited at the prospects of that much technology being put toward what I'm sure will eventually be AI humanoid machines. But the feminist side is deeply uncomfortable with the implications of this: a realistic woman that is literally just a thing to fuck. confused

it's beyond a toy, by the time you forked out the $1000s these things cost, it's an obsession.

On the one hand, I find it amazing (yet a little creepy) that science is advancing so much that guys will be able to get their own little sexbot, but on the other hand, if getting a fairly realistic robot for lonely, antisocial guys to fuck to their hearts content keeps them away from assaulting real women or molesting young girls, then I'm all for it.

as opposed to dildoes, which do not de-humanize men?

sex toys, a robot woman...I kinda don't see the comparison.

OK, women already outnumber mem 12 to 1. Which means do these men REALLY think that they need a robot?

It's not women that these guys may not like, but the types they go for.

There is that factor too. If it could be proven as a method to deter sex offenders, maybe there could be a controlled manufacture of dolls made to look like, say, children? A pedophile could get his rocks off without harming a single real child.

But that's IF it worked, and I can't think of a single ethical, safe way to test out that theory without potentially putting real people in harm's way.

If something like this were to work as a deterrent, I'd think a sane social justice or legal system would find a way to fund it. hmmm

I said before that I don't think it would be a deterrent. Those types of men want a "real" female child or woman to terrorize. It just wouldn't be the same with a rubber doll. Even one that could scream or cry. It would have to be able to fight back. Don't forget that most rape and violence by men against females is not about sex but power.

The guy that was engaged I think lost his girlfriend due to his collection of dolls....hmmm seems dolls replaced female companionship there!

Yes he did. She seemed okay with it at first, but after watching him and the way he interacted with it, she split.

Maybe because men have been know throughout time to deny women the right to seek their own... shrug Think chastity belts, the Bible, religion, the inherent double standard that still pervades society, and the list could go on and on and on.

I was being facetious which is what the shrug was for. I believe women have literally bent over backwards, frontwards, and in all other positions to give men pleasure.

Agreed.

While I don't have a lot of faith something like these dolls would work as a deterrent, there is a possibility. The problem is there's no way to test them without putting actual people in harm's way.

Don't worry, that thing couldn't be less realistic. lol

It's just a b-rate realdoll with a lousy loudspeaker built into it and some options for what comes through that speaker when it is touched. Besides I think the case with any form of "technological advances" is that the more advanced they'll eventually become, the more haunting the feel of articificiality will also become. If it would have been just a mannequin doll then the male's imagination would have to fill up the rest, but if there were more and more realistic sex-cyborgs to be build in the coming years, the artificiality will still just remain there. You can compare it to CGI animation in films or digital re-creations of instruments from the past decades - people are less and less satisfied with them, and looking out for the real thing anyway.

Anyway, I find these type of things inevitable. As soon as there would be fast enough processors to be able to handle some sort of crude AI, synthetic skin of some sort - one of the first things they were bound to build would be something to fuck.

I hope your experience doesn't make you think women are all frigid beings. I do know that I have a girlfriend that tells me her husband tells her that he got bamboozled. I guess they did it like wild monkeys until they got mariied and had kids. Poor guy.

Women are much more than fuck toys. Chrissie Hynde football-talking sex robot and women can co-exist.
