I miss my two cats from years ago in Tulsa. I had a tabby cat named Tigger, and a black cat that looked just like Clarice, named Winnie Pooh. I had to leave Winnie Pooh in Minneapolis when I moved here. I still feel bad about leaving her. sad

I had a basset hound just before I moved out of state from Oklahoma. Her name was Madison. I was so horrible w/ pets back then, but I tried to do good by her. I used to take her in the shower with me every couple of days. She had her own scrubbie, and her own bottle of Paul Mitchel Awapuhi Shampoo. When I gave her away to a lady at work, I asked the lady a week later how she was doing. "Fine, but she keeps trying to get in the shower with me." I explained to her that I bathed Madison on a regular basis. I brought her scrubbie and shampoo over the next day for her. I miss Maddie. If I ever have a house again, I will have a dog.

mushy
Lola gets bathed about once a month. In our tub. I'm sure I don't have to tell you Basset Hounds can get a special muskiness to them if they go too long without a bath. lol I know it sounds sick, but I kinda like it. Not enough to not bathe her when she needs it, but I dunno...like the way you like the smell of someone close for no real reason. We've had different types of dogs over the years and all have been uniquely awesome, but Bassets are a special kind of crazy. She is both my archenemy and bestest buddy. But don't tell her or anyone I said that. shhh I refuse to admit to anyone that I love her. hmph! I've been trying to kiss her to death for years now and it just won't work. mad

it quit being adorable about 11 years ago hmph! *meow* if no food in the bowl, *meow* early in the morning if I roll over in bed, *meow* when I am talking on the phone, *meow* when I walk in the door. I think she thinks her name is "shut the fuck up!" and she even meows back when I say that disbelief

my dog, on the other hand, hardly ever barks. I think he barked yesterday when UPS knocked and I was shocked as shit! Love the dog.... mushy

I see, mine is more like:

-Hi Feline!
-Meow!
-How are you?
-Meow!
-Did you sleep well?
-Meow...

And so on...

I just thought her name, matched with the fact she rode around in a shopping trolley and rides the conveyor belt was hilariously cute. She's lovely.

That's so sweet, looks like she's not afraid of noisy areas. Feline still freaks out anytime a car is passing by.

That is a really sad story and it will probably haunt you for some time. Why did Tigger die? Was it the change of location? Or did you feed him something that was bad for him?
And where did you get Clarice? From a shelter?

She looks very special, with those pointed ears and her small head. She looks very smart.

I actually named her after seeing Hannibal. I loved that movie so much more than Silence of the Lambs. I joked that if she jumped on the bed in the middle of the night, the conversation would go like this?

::::cat jumps on bed::::
"Clarice, is that you?"
meow
"Well hello Clarice."

hahaha

She's not afraid at all. I've had her on a leash, and taken her out and about w/ me since she was five weeks old. I have a metal stake in the yard. I put her harness on her (we call it her "sports bra"), and I put her leash on the stake and she'll hang out in the yard, quite happy all day. She LOVES the sunshine, hates the cold. Cars don't phase her. She loves to ride in the car too. She purrs, meows, gets in her window in the back seat, or gets up in my lap with her front feet on the dashboard, and watches everything go by. Just loves it.
Here's a picture of her the first year or so I had her:

Tigger died probably from just a heart attack. He was about 7 I think. I came home and he was dead, and WinniePooh was standing over him, confused. I think it was just the stress of the move, and finding his place in it all.

Clarice I got from a friend. He had Clarice's mom, and the mom's mom. Clarice looks EXACTLY like her mother, it's amazing. There were 5 cats in the little. Two black ones, two gray ones, and a white one. Chuckie knew I was going to name the girl one (the only girl in the litter) "Clarice", so he jokingly called the other black one "Hannibal". My friend Michelle took the other black cat and kept his name. So there is Clarice and Hannibal in the same area here, although they've not seen each other since the day she came to live with me, which was February 2001. They were both 5 weeks old when we got them. Clarice was the runt, which is why even at 9 years old, she looks like she's about a year old. She's very svelte, and frankly she always smells good. She's my little lover girl.

I have Feline on a leash too but I only can walk her in quiet areas like woods (she loves to climb trees) or along the river. But when it comes to go in town she climbs my leg and stick to my shoulder lol

Is the yard enclosed? Is it safe for her to be tethered without escape if there are dogs, etc hanging around? Cats are quick as hell when they need to be, but I'd be wary of having her somewhere where she couldn't escape if need be.

Oh, and the sports bra / "Well hello Clarice" gets another falloff

Here is the grass area. It's not that deep, maybe 9 or 10 feet from the building to the brick. You can almost see the stake. If you look at the three plants inside the pink brick to the left, near the 3rd plant you can see something sticking up above the brick a bit. Her leash reached to the brick, but it she couldn't get past it into the street. I made sure of that. She was never really scared of anything. I was always nearby or had the patio door open to keep eye on her if she was out there. And she'd come to the door if she wanted inside. She was quite safe, and happy, out there.

Our complex is cats only, so no dogs around anywhere.
