Kings' Day (January 6) -- Who has eaten some king cakes in the past/present?

Although I don't do Kings' Day these days, I sometimes miss eating iced-frosting king cakes from New Orleans.

How about the rest of you?!?

In Puerto Rico, as a child I got Santa and Three Kings.
We didn't have the cakes.
We (children) used to clip grass and put it in a shoebox and leave it under our bed for the camels (kinda like cookies for Santa)giggle
In the morning the grass would be gone and presents would be in the box. biggrin

Yes, that is a king cake. They're always on sale every year between Kings' Day and Mardi Gras Day.

That's cool. I thought King Cakes were illegal to sell in Louisiana because of the choking hazard of the hidden baby figure in them. A former boss of mine gets them every year, but I think his come from some company in Missouri.

They don't bake the "baby" inside the cake...it comes in a little baggie.

Isn't that funny? And if you get the slice with the baby, you're king for a day, have good luck for a year and are responsible the following year for buying the next cake.

I guess some king cakes have other things, but I've only ever had them with babies inside.

The toy baby is on the purple side of the king cake most of the time.
