I saw Heather Headley cd for $8.99 and the Vivian Green cd for $9.99. These are suggested retail prices, not a sale price. I really think I would buy more cds if they were all $9.99 a pop. For the artwork, liner notes, royalties, etc, I consider this fair. When i ponder downloading, or throwing out $15 for a cd, i usually download. Some dvds are less than a new release cd?? Why? When I go to a store and ponder buying a new cd that i have never heard by (fill in the blank) or one of my favorite movies on dvd...?

If the companies see that most of the first weeks sales numbers are so HUGE, ie: when the prices are av. $9.99. Why not keep them this price? If I don't buy the cd the first day it's released, i don't bother. My friend bought the Heather Headley cd and gave it as Christmas presents, to friends ($10 a pop) Instead of buying other well known acts at $12-$15 each.

I do remember our first VCR... it was this HUGE silver thing that had these huge buttons that you had to work out in order to push down. The top would make this horrible noise when it came up and then you put the tape in. It was LARGE!

I was one of the first people to plunk down 500 for a compact disc player.

The compact discs started at 49.99 and went up from there, most of them were classical. If you wanted the rare few that were outside of classical, they had to be special ordered and pre-paid! The music store would have like 20 classical CDs in stock.

I remember Dirty Dancing came out at a buying price of $19.99 and people freaked out. Sold hundreds!! This was just in '86, not that long ago.

You also had to pay for memberships to rent movies! And we made you leave a deposit if it was a movie that was stolen or never returned.

Apple was bleeding me dry back then, by making everything only available through them.

I very seldom ever buy a new cd. I get most of mine at this really cool used cd store in Toronto. The only new stuff I buy is Prince. The rest I get used for under $10.00. I have a fairly large cd selection and I stopped buying new, overpriced cd's years ago. The good used stores have a great selection and most of the time I can get what I want within a few weeks of its release. For example, I got the latest Santana (shaman) for $8 3 weeks after it was released.
