I live in London and we had about 2 inches on the ground when I left home this morning and it hasn't stopped snowing since.
It is gonna be a nightmare getting back home tonight! "I know that living with u baby, was sometimes hard...but I'm willing 2 give it another try.
Cause nothing compares....nothing compares 2 u!"

8 inches now, still falling. We are about 30 miles south of London.
we are high on a hill, hubby just went out to help a neighbours stranded elderly mother. That is what happens when you are the only one around with a 4WD. The motorway he got off of after being stranded 5 hr had over 500 cars stuck on it over night. [Edited 1/6/10 5:49am]

We only hit one fence in the process. We're so crap with snow, aren't we?

Been snowing consistently since my last post. My wife has just started her drive home from work after being let off early. When we had the last snow the other week, it took her over 2 hours to do her 25 minute journey! RIP

You guys just aren't prepared for this kind of snow.
It slows us down here in Minne, sure, but snow rarely stops anything. If we know a storm is coming we're out pre-treating the streets, have fleets of snow plows running constantly during and after the storms and sand and salt trucks that run about to cover and melt the ice. 10 inches in a short period is a lot though. I'd probably leave work early as long as I brought my laptop home with me. But I'll take 10 inches of snow over the cold we've been having any day. It's currently -1 F (that's -18 to you celsius types) and it's the warmest morning I've had this week. |

Because you get it every year it's worthwhile investing in the machinery (which has to be maintained all year round). For us, it's not worth it.

Hopefully no one else calls him. It is insane, many places are running out of salt. Stay safe everyone. I agree with Carrie, I will take this snow over the really extreme cold. I have yet to be out to play in this snow yet, we had some a few weeks ago. He has been out most of the day with the dog playing, I have to stay in and take care of the baby. The baby was not interested in the snow a few weeks ago. [Edited 1/6/10 7:25am]

He made it home at 3am, 9 hour journey. Luckily he was driving a 4WD vehicle or he would have been stuck the entire night on the motorway like many other ppl.It should have taken an hour and a half for that journey. We have about 6 inches on the ground now and it is still coming down. He is knackered and work calls keep coming in, I am hoping that he will get to take a nap soon. So great to hear!! My parents (in Iowa) have about 2 feet and are expecting 5-7 inches this week. They are used to it, but don't necessarily like it. Like Carrie said, it's the cold that really sucks. It's been cold in New York (highs right around freezing), but I got no sympathy from my mom; she was all, "Try 20 below." The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Our weather provisions are outrageously bad, a man with a bag of sawdust and reggae music played in supermarkets. People get angry, blame local council, council blame government, government blame council etc. I blame HAARP.
