I agree its a terrible website and I think its rude to call it Beautiful People, we are all different.

BUT, having said that, for most people I think being fat or obese is a choice. I know some people are genetically predisposed to being 'big' and I have heard there maybe a 'fat' gene that makes it very difficult for fat people to ever get to their safe healthy weight. But for most people, I think its a choice and they are overweight or obese because they want to be. If they didn't want to be, they would lose the weight. For me personally I think its a turn off when you see someone who doesn't look after themselves, and that includes overweight, people who eat crap, smoke, drink too much or take drugs too much. Its all about balance, I am not saying have no fun, but when I see someone overweight, I think about their heart, their risk of diabetes, and how much they are reducing their lifespan by. Fat people can be beautiful, but beauty isn't skin deep, but in this cynical world, thats the perception and I know there have been experiments done to show fat people won't get the time of day from people in the streets, retail store assistants, potential dates and even employers when they do interviews. They get looked down on and accused as lazy and a slob. This isn't always the case always, genetics play a role. Its definitely a turn on when I see someone looking after themselves and their body and their mind. A healthy weight equates often to self respect and someone who likes themselves. When someone likes themselves and has self respect and good balance and self esteem, confidence, it naturally makes them more attractive to others. I am sure there are people out there who are attracted to fat people, I mean lots of my males friends like big asses for example but overall in general, thats my take.

We are a race (humans) are definitely getting fatter though (westerners at least). especially in USA, England and Australia for example. The thing I don't get is France. When I was in France, they were eating cheeses, breads, wine, pastries, all sorts of beer and more cheese but not a fatty in site. I didn't see one single overweight French person, whats up with that?

While my fat azz is sweating in my nightly boot camp class and eating carrots and still squeezing into a 16 I'll be sure to think of you as inspiration.....

Perhaps I'll make sure to maybe go to two boot camps a day so that we "fatties" can accomodate you. Not every heavy person eats shit and sits around the house.

were you in Paris? I think they walk a lot there
I also heard they didn't finish their dinners if the food got cold, due to so much talking lol
and they smoke more there

actually a couple of orgers have commented that in europe foods seemed different, americans lose weight when they visit europe hmmm perhaps no HFCS or hydroginised vegetable oils or whatever it might be. They eat way more dairy, that's for sure, and I heard that actually keeps you slim (look at the Danes, milk milk milk and they are not fat!)

hmmm

People are fat here now too. (in Holland) I've lived here for 11 years and have observed the change. I used to remark how I never saw any overweight people here, and now it's almost the same as in the U.S. after 11-12 years. Too much fast food.

When I was there last year I didn't notice. Actually, it was only when I got to London that I realized that the people there were a lot bigger than in Amsterdam. Then in Paris it was back to skinny people.

I lived in Paris for 11 years and met many overweight people; eating healthy doesn't keep you from gaining weight if you eat too much.

I don't get those who never finish their dinner as I hate wastefuness

i don't think that comment was made by an "ass". obesity is a tricky subject, a lot of people get angry when we talk about it. you didn't need to take that post personally.

i spent my christmas holiday with a relative who is morbidly obese, has severe diabetes (which he is not taking care of), has skin patches falling off his legs due to poor circulation (obesity related), poor eyesight (uncontrolled diabetes related) cannot walk up even one flight of stairs, and who yet still has seconds and thirds helpings on each and every meal. every. single. meal. he will also eat anything he can get his hands on between meals. we literally had to hide food from him.

he is not taking care of himself, and because he is not mobile he insists that the people around him bring him food, and wait on him because he is literally too fat to stand up easily. fairly soon he will need to be placed in a long-term care facility, for the simple reason that although his mind is intact, he absolutely refuses to take care of his body, and his poor health and related needs have now become a problem for all of us in the family.

that simply is not healthy. and this type of self-induced poor health is really important when considering a potential mate.

i agree the website is stupid and offensive as to its claim of "BeautifulPeople" , but the original point, made in the post you vilified, is totally valid. health is vital, when considering a potential dating partner, imo.

nod I don't know why I attract these fuckas cuz Lawd knows I hate to work out. But most of the trainers I've dealt with would open with: "I love me a thick/heavy woman" or some shit lol

Although, they'd offer to work out with me, usually in trade for some ass wink , they were adamant that getting me "skinny" was not the goal.

A couple of pro athletes I know only date "fat" girls, more cushion for the pushin' pretty in the face and thick in the waist, and so on. geek

nod True, but there are definitely men out there that like "big" women, hence my point, that just cuz your wagon might be draggin' don't automatically mean you're ugly, or even unhealthy.

My weight has NEVER slowed my love life down. It bothers me that people clump all heavy people into one category. Folks that sit on their ass all day and chow down on shit. I have played sports since childhood and maintained activity all the way to the present in my 30's. I think its insulting for ANY one to say hey pick up an apple. Mother fucker, I most likely eat more apples than your ass a week. I'm eating tofurkey and carrots and your slim ass is slamming pizza. It's patronizing.

Your relative is an extreme. I had the experience where I can see blowing up beyond help like that when I slipped into a deppression three years ago and put on 35 pounds. But through out that dark year I was still walking, doing aerobics classes and hitting the gym. It's what kept me from slipping into the trap.

I think the general public has no clue. We wear our hearts on our sleeve. Slim folks can hide their drug addictions, sex addictions, alcoholism, etc. There are plenty thin folks that have their health in the toilet. My health is not. Albiet weight, my cholesterol is super low, blood pressure is low, blood sugar is awesome, etc. I attribute that to hitting the gym 5-6 days a week and making sure I get all my vegetables in a day.

My man likes the way it tastes, so I guess I have no problem in this arena anyway.
