It's not about dating, it's about wanting to belong to some exclusive so called beautiful people club, it's simply about validation.

I find it funny that the founders are not attractive.

I see many of us here find this funny.

But to be perfectly honest, I find the whole thing a little saddening. The fact that a website can be created to attract vanity, then those vain people can revel in their little power and elitism to block new members is a bit sick. Also the obviously self-created marketing hoopla surrounding it makes the website not only vapid and sad, but also slightly commercially corrupt. I bet the founders are laughing over expensive wine right now.

Meanwhile I see families sifting through the dumpster outside the fruit and veg shop for scraps.

Oh woe is me, life is rubbish, the human condition and all that shit... err

lol

I agree its a terrible website and I think its rude to call it Beautiful People, we are all different.

BUT, having said that, for most people I think being fat or obese is a choice. I know some people are genetically predisposed to being 'big' and I have heard there maybe a 'fat' gene that makes it very difficult for fat people to ever get to their safe healthy weight. But for most people, I think its a choice and they are overweight or obese because they want to be. If they didn't want to be, they would lose the weight. For me personally I think its a turn off when you see someone who doesn't look after themselves, and that includes overweight, people who eat crap, smoke, drink too much or take drugs too much. Its all about balance, I am not saying have no fun, but when I see someone overweight, I think about their heart, their risk of diabetes, and how much they are reducing their lifespan by. Fat people can be beautiful, but beauty isn't skin deep, but in this cynical world, thats the perception and I know there have been experiments done to show fat people won't get the time of day from people in the streets, retail store assistants, potential dates and even employers when they do interviews. They get looked down on and accused as lazy and a slob. This isn't always the case always, genetics play a role. Its definitely a turn on when I see someone looking after themselves and their body and their mind. A healthy weight equates often to self respect and someone who likes themselves. When someone likes themselves and has self respect and good balance and self esteem, confidence, it naturally makes them more attractive to others. I am sure there are people out there who are attracted to fat people, I mean lots of my males friends like big asses for example but overall in general, thats my take.

We are a race (humans) are definitely getting fatter though (westerners at least). especially in USA, England and Australia for example. The thing I don't get is France. When I was in France, they were eating cheeses, breads, wine, pastries, all sorts of beer and more cheese but not a fatty in site. I didn't see one single overweight French person, whats up with that?

were you in Paris? I think they walk a lot there
I also heard they didn't finish their dinners if the food got cold, due to so much talking lol
and they smoke more there

actually a couple of orgers have commented that in europe foods seemed different, americans lose weight when they visit europe hmmm perhaps no HFCS or hydroginised vegetable oils or whatever it might be. They eat way more dairy, that's for sure, and I heard that actually keeps you slim (look at the Danes, milk milk milk and they are not fat!)

Yeah and when you watch those TV documentaries on the Food industry in USA, like 'King Corn' and 'Food Inc'. (both excellent), they talk about the use of corn starch/corn syrup in USA food and the meat industry also. Their meat is fattier.

So therefore 'beautiful people' really means 'slim people'. Its true, I have plenty of friends who would date a guy or a girl based on their body and they aren't so picky about the face. They will tell you otherwise, but really they want to be a guy with good arms and pecs and shoulders or girls with smoking bodies, great tits, great ass, slim figure etc, but again not so picky on the face. Maybe this is why people with nice faces and bad bodies show close ups of their face only as its their best asset. On these sites and even facebook, often people with great bodies are often shirtless or missing their head altogether as their body is their best asset...

People are fat here now too. (in Holland) I've lived here for 11 years and have observed the change. I used to remark how I never saw any overweight people here, and now it's almost the same as in the U.S. after 11-12 years. Too much fast food.
